For those who do not know, Anne, creator of “Mind the Kitty” has started a tag game, where each creator picks another creator’s characters to incorporate in a drawing with their own characters.
Anne just “tagged” me, and as the rule goes, whomever was last tagged, gets to pick who’s next.
Okay “Call Me Bessie” Girls…YOU’RE IT!!

I am sooooooo excited to have Shawn Patterson’s scoring talents on “Yaki and Yumi”. Shawn has quite an extensive resume, and is in fact an “Oh Yeah Cartoons” veteran. Right now he is creating music for former “Oh Yeah” creator, Carlos Ramos’s “The X’s” on Nickelodeon. I had so much fun talking about possible music choices, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with! Check out samples of Shawn’s super awesome creations at his website: www.shawnpatterson.com
Gross out! Because I am a woman, people are sometimes surprised to see how much I enjoy good gross jokes..not just for gross sake, but when it pushes the humor in the story. This episode of “Yaki and Yumi” manages to include a burp, a booger, barf, and Yaki pulling his skin off inside out! Ewwwwwwwww!!!!
So, I had a blast editing my show today. I LOVE the outcome! The humor, timing, and story are moving along really nicely. And after getting back our “do-overs” from Korea, the animation is looking great! I am VERY pleased with how my short has turned out. I can’t wait to spot sound EFX tomorrow, and meet with my composer!
Greetings peeps! I had to share the news, cuz if I kept it in, I think I would burst! I am happy to announce, that I have had the good fortune of selling another short! The show is called “Girls On the Go!” and it’s star’s name is Katerina Metropoulos. Eventually, she, and the girls, will have their own blogspot here at this site.
So…Yaki and Yumi heard the news, and came by to give Kat their warmest welcome:
YUMI: “Welcome aboard Kat! If you’d like to join me later for some chanting, I’d love the company.” YAKI: “NO NO>>> I’M KAT’S FAVORITE>>>SHE LIKES ME BETTER!!!!
**thanks to everyone at Frederator, for offering me the opportunity once again, to bring my characters to life**
So, on the topic of “admirers and supporters”…I must talk about how I first knew of Fred. I was a senior in college, in 1993-94…by lurking around the classroom for the Animation Grad students, I met someone who knew they were looking for interns at Hanna-Barbera. I went on an interview, and was hired to intern on a show called “Two Stupid Dogs.” I really liked the show, but I guess it didn’t do to well. I got to meet people like Rob Renzetti, and Heather Kenyon, and Donovan Cook. It seemed like there were not a lot of quality cartoons on T.V. besides “Ren and Stimpy”. I decided to do my senior thesis presentation on “Why do Cartoons today Suck?”. It was at this time, that I met John Kricfalusi. He let me come by Spumco to interview him for my senior thesis, and then offered me a job [Read more…]
During the last staff meeting, Fred asked those of us who were not “in house” anymore to blog about what we’ve been up to. Personally, I have been working on and pitching my new idea….oh…. and I’m also planning a wedding! What does this have to do with “Yaki and Yumi” you may ask? Mmmm…not much, except that us creators are also real people having real lives. I had a mentor once tell me “you can’t animate life unless you live it.” That is exactly what I try to do. Everyone I know, and everything I do influences what I create. Including my fiance. This is a picture from our “engagement shoot”. I think it perfectly represents us as a couple..me acting like a goober, and him looking at me like “she is such a silly girl, but I love her for it!” I had another mentor once tell me [Read more…]
