Schlurrrrrp!
Here is another storyboard page for your viewing pleasure! Yaki was desperately hungry and hoped to get to eat something by getting a job at a concession stand. He was unsuccessful at doing this as he was constantly interrupted by mobs of kids ordering snacks. He finally lost it, and devoured everything!!…which also made it impossible for anyone to order anything else!! Yaki was very proud of his accomplishment… but consequently finds he is unable to fly!
This is Eric Homan’s favorite storyboard page as of yet..I thank Eric for having a great eye, and always believing in me and my work!

He looks sooo funny - again those expressions are priceless. By the way a bat overeating is not so far fetched. Did you know that they eat over 600 mosquitoes and other bugs in one hour? Keep a bat in your back yard and you will have a natural pest control company in your back yard and it will give a bat a place to live. Adopt a Bat! Dibs on Yaki!

Bats eat half their body weight a night (that would be like you or me eating 30 pizzas!). ( read that)

I also want to congratulate Fred Siebert, who had this wonderful idea to create these opportunities to showcase new talent in animation. Looking forward to seeing all the productions and wishing the best to all participants.

Aliki what I love about your characters is that you are able to show such movement and personality through their body language even before they are actually animated - WOW!

Good board. Were the pitch boards in that style? Perhaps slightly rough, yet clear works best for the pitch…
On August 24th, 2005 at 12:00 am
Hi Jeff, no the pitch board, for the most part, was not as clean..although sometimes, the best way I can communicate something I want to say, is to have a cleaner (clearer) drawing, and I will take a few passes at a panel to achieve that. At this stage, the board for the most part is pretty rough..after my repitch on Friday, I will have a couple more weeks to clean it up.

Hi Aliki!
I love your boards.
My advise is to not clean it up too much because you want to retain your wonderful energy. You don’t want to lose any of that during the animation process. Keep up the great work!!!! Talk soon.
On August 24th, 2005 at 12:00 am
Jeff is the master here..everyone check out his hilarious short “Finster/Finster”, the link is on the right of the screen.
When I was at Disney, the challenge of when our animation roughs went to the clean up department, was to clean up the characters so they would be ready for the screen, but not kill the loose energy and life that was in the roughs. I am glad Jeff reminded me of this principle so I can make sure to not overwork my board.

I think I had an episode like this in my kitchen; I was ravenously hungry, my children were clamboring for food so I unhinged my jaw and swallowed the pantry!
Great job Aliki!
