Pencil Tests Are in!

June 22nd, 2006

twspncil.jpg

Hey everyone,

This is Melissa Wolfe reporting for Niki Yang. We just got back some AWESOME pencil tests for her short, and I wanted to share one with you. Basically, pencil tests are a way for the animators over seas to show us folks in Burbank what the show will look like fully animated. Pencil tests have no sound, and are used by the creators to determine if the animators are “on model”. In other words, are they drawing and animating her characters correctly, based in the information she has provided.

Judging by the looks of it, they are doing a great job.

Click HERE to check out one of the tests done for The Two Witch Sisters!

Congrats Niki!

b.g allergy

April 28th, 2006

I worked on this bg in the loft at my apartment. I didn’t have time to clean so the loft was a total piggy dump. My usally allergies attacked me, my nose and eyes ran all day long. My loft is still a dump but I am happy to be here to blog this and go back to my drawing desk.^^

Yes It’s A Beautiful Day!

Hey Everyone! This is Melissa Wolfe writing in for the incredible Niki Yang. Niki’s slaving away–errr–I mean…indesposed at the moment. I’ve just uncovered Niki’s animatic for Two Witch Sisters and wanted to share one of my favorite scenes with you. I was so pleased not only with the terrific cut out style, expressions, and story of Niki’s short, but also on her voice casting choices (hint: she has two guys playing the Witch Sisters!) Dee Bradley Baker is perfect as the high strung sister Carrot, and S. Scott Bullock lends his incredible talents to the voice of Dorothy.

Click HERE to watch a scene! Sorry if it takes a couple minutes to upload.

Greetings from two witch sisters.

Sunday Thoughts

December 19th, 2005

I think the beauty of animation is cooperation. Recently I’ve had alot of help from many talented people.

I had Candy Milo, the extra dynamite voice actress, record the voice for the Bumble Bee last Friday. It was a tough character because he only speaks with the word “buzz.” How can you say both “hello” and “goodbye” only using one word? Candy’s acting was great.

I have Robert Lakco, who is an excellent clean-up artist for Teen-Age Robots. He is helping me clean up my designs.
Nick Jeong is a very creative designer and filmmaker who is helping me with BG Layout and Prop Design.
Brad Breeck is my composer who gives tastey spice to my short. He sent me a song for the scene where the two witches sing, which made me happy all day.

I have great production support from Therese, Jack, Mac, and Eric. And the coolest development people like [Read more…]
