Lets Talk about Ants

July 13th, 2006

I thought they already made a movie about Antz?

I haven’t once heard anyone, ever say:

“Dude!, wouldn’t it be great if they made a movie about ants?”

And I doubt if I ever heard a filmmaker say:

“Hey you know what we need? I think we need another ant movie, yea, people love ants.”

Do people love ants?

Are we stuck in this vicious cycle of used, tired, overworked ideas? Are there no original ideas left? Are people really gonna pay to see another bug movie, or are they just going to watch it because some big name celebrity is lending there voice?

If anyone else is tired of bug movies… please raise you hand.

First I am an avid reader of Federator Blog! I love you guys and gals!!

Antz…WHY?
I agree, why more bugs? And a very BIG WHY are they using BIG NAME actors? For the draw? I would much rather see a big name Voice Actor in the staring roles. I know that Rob Paulsen is in this flick and his character was even featured in the trailer. But come on there are so many talented actors that can really act with their voices. Lets start using them.
Okay, sorry, I am now back on the fence and off my soapbox. :)

Amen.

as far as voice acting goes, there’s this pretty good article with Billy West where he talks about Big Name Draw Voices (i.e. Will Smith, for lack of a better Big Name Cartoon Voice)and the state of real Character Voice acting. (sorry, shark tales popped into my head.)
