That New Show Smell

Welcome, Anne Walker! And…ummmm…ME!

May 16th, 2006

It’s official! Anne and I are the co-creators of our very own short, “Sparkles and Gloom”. It feels kind of weird to welcome myself, so I’m gonna focus on Anne for now :)

Anne Walker is an uber-talented artist who came in about a year ago to pitch us her idea for her first pitch,“Mind the Kitty”, which has since been produced. It’s impossible not to like Anne and her work and her persistence and her sense of humor.

I had been toying around with an idea I had for a short for quite some time about two sisters (Sparkles and Gloom) who were the epitome of good and evil (based loosely on my relationship with my sister and the fun ways we used to torment each other growing up). As many know, Random! Cartoons requires a storyboard to pitch a cartoon. I draw worse than many 5 year olds. I knew that if I were to have any chance to pitch at all, I’d need a partner. Anne was my friend. Anne draws. Anne draws well. Anne is funny. Anne agreed to storyboard the script!

We worked our butts off. And the rest…well, that’s coming. Thank you Anne for being such a terrific partner of both good and evil. “Evil rocks! Evil Rolls! Snakes and mean things!”

Strap on a headband, everyone.

Well welcome ladies! I saw bits and piece of your short today on somebody’s desk. Charming drawings and some really funny dialog. Good luck with it!
HAH! I beat Stephen!

Damn! You beat me!

Congrats Guys! Cant wait for more posts! -Steve

Yay! As many of you already know, my partner in crime, Melissa Wolfe, is our development coordinator here at Frederator. She’s also an awesome writer, who is funny and uber talented and great to work with! :) Thanks for all the kind words…this is going to be soo much fun! (Stephen, I beat you to the comment page as well! Where are you?)

Well never mind. There you are.

;). You guys have any plans on how this is going to be animated :D http://www.stephenstudios.com emails on the site! Btw, one of those girls.. looks JUST LIKE Anne Walker!!! -Steve

YAY!!! Anne and Melissa are two of my favorite Frederator peeps!! Jun and I are lucky enough to have Anne in the office next door! Melissa, I thought this idea sounded great the first time you told me about it, and Anne, I am a big fan of yours..Congrats you two..can’t wait to watch this unfold!

Girl power. Right on.

Congratulations, gals. It’s great to have you back, Anne. And, Melissa, I hope now that you’re a bigshot creator you can still pick me up from the mechanic’s when my car’s in for repairs.

I can also pick you up from the dentist, computer store, and any other place you frequent more than three times a week.

So this has all become about beating Stephen to the posts huh? Congrats guys and welcome back to the Frederator fold. And Melissa, now that you crossed the line into creator status does that mean you won’t be providing me with tech support?

If someone told me two years ago that THE Manny Galan would be reliant on me for tech support, I may have called them a dirty liar. I am flattered and resolved to be the best non-computer computer person EVER. Faux Tech Goddess Melissa will never sleep until all blog issues are resolved, and Manny’s cable is hooked up :)

Hooray for Melissa and Anne!!! I think I got a toothache from how sugary-sweet and cute that caricature is. Can’t wait to see more.

Melissa, I’ll welcome you to our creator crew. Congratulations. And Anne, you be rockin’ back. Thanks guys.

Congratulations Melissa and Anne! The Sparkles inside of me sheds a happy little teardrop now that this creation is officially official. However, the Gloom inside of me would never share that, so, shut the $*&# up about it, okay!? Special kudos to Melissa Wolfe who has transgressed from mere Thetan, moving up her time-track, through the ARC triangle, leaving her Unmock behind, arriving at…CREATOR-level.

Do your happy teardrops have…GLITTER in them? I love glitter! And hair gel! And Phil Collins songs when played on a well tuned piano! :)
