Hey, I once again haven’t been doing my blogging duties. Decided to post this since Steve Levinson asked me recently about construction models. I feel the Bouche series was the best I came up with while working on the project. Although I know it’s far from perfect, it did give a step by step process on how to draw the characters. This one for example shows exactly how many dreds are on Bouche’s head. Very important information! -Dahveed
Here’s another beautiful background from Teapot with amazing colors from Rae and Brian. Power Records is for Teapot what the Emerald City was for Dorthy. But he’s not there to see any wizard. He’s trying to meet his idol, Silkbone.
Hey all! I promise to start blogging fast and furious once more. I promise there will be more posts! Better posts! And lots more images up!
So to get the ball rolling here is Teapot’s mouth chart. Since I haven’t seen any mouth charts posted yet, I’ll explain…The mouth chart is a guide for the animators to follow when animating the characters talking, singing, rapping…or in any way enunciating. The letters “A”, “B”, “C”, do not refer to the sound the character is making but is just a reference for the director to use in timing notes.
Scan your eyes across the different mouths in order and you can see it roughly animated.
Here’s another colored image from Teapot. This is actually an older image. In previous versions Teapot had vinyl records all over his room as you can see in this pic. Since he’s not from the 80’s, nor a DJ, we have since lost the vinyl.
Here’s the update on Teapot! Work on our end of the process wrapped up for the time being. Our final checking meeting went off without a hitch. All potential timing and directing issues have been addressed on the slugged board. Our last step was our color check meeting last week with background colorist Rae and character colorist Brian. All colors look great as you can see above (Silkbone and Vixens on music video set). I’ll be posting more of these beautilicious colors very soon!
Hey All! I know it’s been an age since Greg and I have posted. Somehow when there’s actual work to be done posting becomes very hard to do!
Anyway, just wanted to give a quick update. We’re at the end of our pre-production phase and our show ships overseas February 3rd. All final revisions have been made on character design (see the final, final, definitive version of Teapot above). Timing sheets and slugged boards are in. Background color and final character color are being done.
I’m spending my last official week at Nick sketching out some character expressions and cleaning up the mouth charts. Friday I turn in my badge [Read more…]
HI guys, Greg Eagles here. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. My partner Da-veed has been keeping everyone informed. But since this has been a busy week for him (as well as myself) I think I should let you guys know that we have recorded the dialogue and the performances were terrific (wait until you hear Bouche!). I’ll have to go back in and re-record a few of Teapot’s lines, but other than that, and the fact that we ran a bit long, (that’s were editing comes in) I am generally very pleased. I guess it’s a good sign when the audio editor (the terrific Mike Petak) is so busy laughing that he actually had to halt work on more than one occasion. Also just had a terrific meeting with our director Bob Alvarez. Everytime I leave his office I feel even more assured that my litttle Teapot [Read more…]
