It’s not every day you get to meet the Beastie Boys, but here they are: Dan Meth, Steve Levinson (decked out in vintage Ace & Aqua garb), and Jeaux Janovsky. So when are you guys going on tour?

If you missed Tuesday night’s ASIFA-East Random! Cartoons screening, you missed ten shorts and some talk with questions and answers. It was extra cool to see our New York City-based Random! creators. Thanks to all the filmmakers, ASIFA-East, SVA, Dave Levy, and the 100+ folks who turned out.
Three things that came up during the Q&A you might want to know: Frederator’s trying real hard to get another order of shorts; the latest from Nick is that this latest crop of cartoons will air toward to the end of the year; and Bill Plympton animated “Gary Guitar” by himself in about a month.
From left to right, the folks in the above shot are: Bill Plympton, Manny Galán, Dave Levy, Alan Goodman, Dana Galin, Tom Selleck, Fred Seibert, Diane Kredensor, (not in picture, but who were there: John Dilworth and Dan Meth).
Thanks to Ryan Sias for taking the picture.
Illustrator/animator Marc Crisafulli stopped by Frederator the other day. We hung out, talked about what he’s up to (starting a gig at Disney on Monday) and what we’re doing. Marc’s a good guy who works in a lot of different styles really well. You can see those styles at his blog, Onslaught of Buffoonery. (Fred posted about Marc way back in November, too.)

Today is Melissa Wolfe’s last day here with Frederator. All good things come to an end, I reckon. Seriously, I can’t imagine how we would’ve gotten through producing Channel Frederator, The Nicktoons Network Animation Festival, and Random! Cartoons (especially “Sparkles and Gloom”) over the past two years without her. My guess is we’ll all be working for her someday (it sorta feels like I already have). So, best of luck with the new gig, Melissa. And you can forget about the $7 you owe me or the out-of-print William Goldman book I lent you which you promptly lost. Consider them gifts. Thanks for everything. Don’t take any wooden nickels. See you in the funny papers.

Mark Mayerson’s “Mayerson on Animation” site tips us off to Steve Moore’s brand new webzine, FLIP. Besides pieces on or by Nancy Beiman, Mike Knapp, and James Baker, there’s an article on Mr Jeff DeGrandis and the love of his life, his 1961 Dragmaster. If there have ever been any doubts by those who have read Jeffrey’s blog what a nut he is about cars, this profile will eliminate them.
