We just got word from Nick that “Gary Guitar”, the Random! Cartoons short created and produced by Bill Plympton, has been nominated by the Bimini Film Festival in the Best Television for Children category. Of 19 films in that category, it’s the only one from the United States. Congratulations, Bill. Also, Bill (for “Guide Dog”) and another Random! creator, John Dilworth (for “Life in Translation”) have been nominated in the Films for Adults category. Best of luck, guys.

The 5th International Festival of Animation Films “BIMINI” will take place from March 16th to March 22nd in Riga.

We’re in the homestretch getting these Random! cartoons finished. Things kicked off last July with Kyle’s “MooBeard” going into production, and while things are taking just a little longer than we expected (we’ve been given an extra month to complete the season), things will wrap up by the end of January. Of course, we originally thought we’d be on the air by now. Now we’re not sure when our public at large will get to see these shorts. Soon, we hope.

As of today, 22 of these 39 seven-minutes cartoons are ready to go, nine are in post-production (being edited and having sound effects and music added), and seven are in production somewhere on the planet, from Seoul to Venice Beach.

So. Keep checking back here for news on not only when these shorts will hit the airwaves but also about our next season. We’ll also keep you up to date with any screenings or festivals [Read more…]

Two Random! shorts are up for public viewing in January. No, not on the TV, but as part of Italy’s 9th Annual Future Film Festival, “the first and most important Italian festival dedicated to new technologies and special effects in cinema, television, cartoons, web, video clips, and games.” Along with some other Nick and non-Nick cartoons, screened will be “Mind the Kitty” and “Boneheads”. The festival is being held 1/17 through 1/21 in Bologna. Mmmmm…. Bologna.
