Hear’s To Jeaux

January 31st, 2006

If you’re like I am (and I hope you’re not), you’re an infamous agoraphobic with green eyes. But if you’re not like I am, and if you live in the LA area, you should really head to the Hear Gallery this Friday night (2/3) for an art/music show featuring work by a few artists, including the incredibly good guy and card-carrying FOF (Friend of Frederator), Mr Jeaux Janovsky. I hope the show’s as much as a success as you deserve, Jeaux (pronounced Jeaux).

Renegade Animation

January 20th, 2006

If you stopped by my office yesterday morning, I wasn’t here. I was spending the A.M. down the road in downtown Glendale visiting with the folks at Renegade Animation. Begun in the garage of Darrell Van Citters by him and and Ashley Postlewaite back in the early 1990’s, Renegade’s become one of the premier independent cartoon companies in town. While this year they’re probably best known for their Annie Award-nominated work on Cartoon Network’s Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi Show, this time next year they’ll best be known for the great work they’ve done on (so far) a pair of Oh Yeah! Cartoons - Mike Gray and Erik Knuston’s “Infinite Goliath” and Anne Walker’s “Mind the Kitty” (both of these shorts are in Flash, and Renegade’s among the best when it comes to the tool). Both Anne and Erik are employees at Renegade, and it was a blast yesterday to see the latest artwork and animation on “Kitty”. I [Read more…]

Hats Off To Larry (And Grey)

January 17th, 2006

In all the excitement of Frederator receiving five Annie Award nominations this year, I completely overlooked a very relevant nod in the TV voice acting category - for Grey Delisle’s work as Kitty in the Danger Rangers episode “Fires & Liars”. You see, Danger Rangers is the PBS cartoon produced by Oh Yeah! Cartoons executive producer Larry Huber and his cartoon company, Animotion Works. To keep it more in the family, Grey will this summer be heard on Nick Jr as the voice of Wubbzy in the destined-to-be-a-smash cartoon Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, produced by Frederator.

Congratulations, Grey and Larry. Best of luck at the Annies on 2/4.

Smell You Later, 2005

Fred must be sick.

I’ve been waiting nearly two weeks for him to post a re-cap of the remarkable things Frederator Studios got its mitts into throughout 2005. For some reason, he hasn’t done it. So, I’ll uncharacteristically take the initiative, presenting to you now a few of the things that made this recently passed year such a busy one for us.

It was year of endings, a year of beginnings, and a year of things, er, kind of going on like they did before at some point.

– 2005 saw us - with our primary partners, Nickelodeon - wrap up production of the forty-episode run of the award-winning ChalkZone, created by Larry Huber and Bill Burnett.

– Also wrapping up production was Butch Hartmans The Fairly OddParents, one of Nick’s most popular cartoons ever. And while the final touches are being put on the original eighty episodes, inside word is that there’s life in Cosmo and Wanda yet.
