We’re not sure how the Oh Yeah! Burbank production will hold up while we’re gone, but next week my Frederator partner-in-development-crime, Melissa Wolfe, and I will be heading to Ottawa for its International Animation Festival. If you’re going to be there and want to meet us to learn more about Oh Yeah! or anything else Frederator’s up to, send us an email at eric@frederator.kz or melissa@frederator.kz. We (but Melissa especially) would love to hear from you.

Last night I went to Glendale with filmmaker J.G. Quintel to buy him a Dual 2.7GHz Power Mac G5. Why? Well, J.G. is this year’s winner of both the Nextoons: The Nicktoons Film Festival Producers’ Choice Award and Student Award for his film The Nave Man from Lolliland. As such, he gets from Frederator (we produced the festival) a whole boatload of prizes, including the aforementioned computer. Sadly, the Mac store was of out of stock, so he’ll have to wait a few more days. While this came as a huge disappointment to J.G., you can make him much happier by watching his film on the Nextoons site (screening #3). By the way, Mr Quintel spends his nights studying at CalArts and his days storyboarding over at Cartoon Network on Camp Lazlo.

Blogs Away

So due to intense pressure from family, friends, and employers, I’m beginning my very own Frederator development blog right now. However, I’m fickle, and I may choose to pack it in at any moment. Just warning.

I reckoned my first art post would be an original cel set-up I stole — I mean, was awarded — from the second season of Oh Yeah! Cartoons! from way back in the last century, a time when such a thing as cels were used in cartooning. It’s from the Rob Renzetti short called “My Neighbor was a Teenage Robot” and shows XJ-9 as she looked so many years ago. Melissa scanned this for me so those are her fingerprints all over the art.
