Busy, Busy, Busy.

Indeed I am. Recently starting as a freelance animator for Animax Entertainment, I find myself extremely busy. Animating for them is great! The cartoon I’m working on is great, it’s funny, designs are beautiful, and what’s better than doing what you love? I didn’t realize how busy I would be animating on this show. I try and wake up at 10 and then end at 6 with a break but sometimes it’s just too hard getting distracted.

Over the summer I’m coming to california. I’m going to be pitching ideas, visiting Cal Arts, and then whatever else I can find doing. Not to mention, still animating while I’m there. Deadlines people, deadlines!

I have these 3 ideas that I will be pitching ( as you see in the image ontop ). I’ve been writing the pitch-bibles for them but I still don’t know if they’ll be done in time. I have 2 of the ideas completely written out, but then comes the art work which takes equally as much time to do- and I haven’t started that yet. I have only acouple weeks to get things done. Here’s the list of what needs to be accomplished incase anyone is interested.

1) Write the pitchbook for my action idea
2) Create the art work, and design new characters for the Ace & Aqua pitch-book
3) Design all the characters for the action show, and then add them to backgrounds my good man Elliot Byrne did for me…they look spectacular by the way. Will post them once I pitch.
4) Design all the characters for my skunk show.
5) Make an animatic of my action idea powerpoint so that a very talented musician knows how long the music will play for.
6) Oh yeah, and I’m animating 10-6 each day which is more than exhausting and time consuming.

I really gotta get on it… wish me luck :{ ( nervous smiley face )

Hey so what have you learned about creating the pitch packets? What do you include?

I want to see if there is something different that may help me.

Hey Chad, for the pitch-bibles such as for Ace & Aqua, I have the log line, Series Synopsis, Main characters and their descriptions, secondary characters and their descriptions, Story ideas ( in paragraph form ) with the how the show ends clearly marked. What have I learned about making them… Well firstly I want it to be good. Make sure my story ideas, characters and anything else is strong. Log-line for example that my good friend Jeaux helped me how to write with is to make it very interesting. So for ace and aqua “The misadventures of a crazy little boy who dosen’t have any noses or eyebrows and is best friends with an extremely intelligent abominable snowman that lives in antarctica” to “The misadventures of a wacky boy who befriends and intelligent abominable snowman”. Short and sweet and this logline is what may make or break the producers for even looking at your show ( depending on the producers ). For the episode’s, I’m including in the pitchbook sketches of what happens. So like Ace goes to the mall and gets lost. Id have a sketch of ace happy looking at a mall and then him wondering where he is and then another of him looking like he can’t find his way around etc.. The images should be relevant to the story of coarse. I want to include it because it also gives a better visual of what the episode will look like. For my action idea, I’m having backgrounds of what the setting will look like, characters in action poses, stuff like that. The music and backgrounds for my action idea will be in a powerpoint as well. Only because I really want to show and give the feel of my idea and how I envision it to be. I hope that helps somewhat.. If you want me to explain something feel free to ask

Hey Stephen, I saw some promotion for “Slacker Cats” at Comic Con. Check out my “Preview Night: Comic Con 2007″ post for some images.
