The next steps.
You might recall that last March we started a logo competition for our shorts show that had been first known as Oh Yeah! Cartoons Season 4 and then renamed by Nickelodeon as Random! Cartoons. Or that the competition was won by Michael Lapinski inspired by Darron Moore.
The question, of course, “What’s next?” The answer is that we have to come up with an opening for the series, and for each of the shorts. We’re going to create a 30 second version for the half hour episodes (three shorts together) and a two or three second version for the beginning of an individual short.
Floyd Bishop’s Bishop Animation of Honesdale, Pennsylvania will be creating the animated portion. The studio is also one of our creative team on Six Monsters. The sound design will be created by Jon Kane and Warren Fischer of the Bunker in Brooklyn, New York. Aside from being close colleagues for over 20 years (they produced and directed the orignal opening for Oh Yeah!, and the excited utterance Frederator logo tag at the end of all of our cartoons, among hundreds of other collaborations with us) Jon and Warren are part of the artistic collaborative FischerSpooner.
Stay tuned to this space for blog updates on the openings.

“We’re going to create a 30 second version for the half hour episodes (three shorts together) and a two or three second version for the beginning of an individual short. “
I dont get that. Your making 30 second versions of the shorts? Im alittle confused, what happened to 7 minutes? We have the 7min im confused about the 30 seconds. Is it like a trailer? But that wouldnt make sence to show the trailer right before each 7minute short premiere’s. Btw, I saw the big version of this poster just the balls were more or less popping off the poster. It looked cool, still think Oh Yeah Cartoons! should have stayed with the same name.

Ahh that makes much more sence! Thanks for clarifying that up Jerry! I’ll see you at comic con! -Steve

Let’s see if I can clarify it for Stephen: What Fred is saying is that each 7 minute cartoon (actually 6 minutes and 40 seconds, to be precise) will begin with a 2 (or 3) second “Random! Cartoons logo”. A separate 30-second version of the animated Random! Cartoons logo will be created to run at the begining of the formatted half hour RANDOM! CARTOON show. This way, no matter how you see a Random! Cartoon (whether run separately, or part of the regular half hour series) it will be identified as part of the series.

Thanks for asking us to animate this! We’ll be blogging on every step of the creation of this animation. Even though the 3D models will be spehers, it’s going to be quite a bit more complicated than that. Look for our first big post on Monday.
