HERE is the final animation for the show opener. There will be music and stuff added now that we’re done with our part. As you can see, some things changed since the last version… mostly just the color and surface treatment of things.
HERE is a sneek peek at what the final animation for the animated logo will look like. We think we’re close to final, but we have to wait and see how the conference call goes before we render the final.
The final will have cool things like reflections, motion blur, etc.
Here’s a still of the CG version of the ping pong ball logo. It’s not as simple as it looks.
The word “cartoons” is actually made up of seperate pieces of geometry letters, whose primary visibility is turned off, yet they cast shadows.
The balls have their primary visibility turned on, but they are set to not cast shadows.
The letters are then point constrained with offset (X and Z axis only) to their corresponding ball so that the balls bounce around the scene, yet always cast a consistant letter shadow.
Here’s a teaser image of the Random Cartoons contraption model in progress. The device was designed by J Chad Erekson, and is being modeled by Veronica Harper. Also giving us a hand, literally, is Mike Kopa. We’ll post some images of the hand part of the device sometime soon.
Here are the drawings we did of various contraptions to replace the gun in our initial boards. We decided to go with contraption #1, because we thought the hand would be fun and allow for some cool animation.
We’re in the process of modelling this thing right now. It’s more complicated than it looks!
