“Crocodile Journals”

August 14th, 2006

Living in disguise, a crocodile goes through the everyday, in a human world. One day, it gets invited to a masquerade party…

Completed as her thesis film at CalArts, Yeo Lee Nah says the film was inspired by a friend’s recounting of a Taiwanese novel which she infused her own story and feelings into. She loves the idea of the masquerade and thinks we do that in real life very often. She also wanted to explore the issues of discrimination, displacement and depression.

Not only was this film a spectacular feat in stop motion, it also was honored with our Diversity Award which is awarded to the filmmaker whose film best demonstrates the ideals of diversity in subject and content.

“Crocodile Journals” premiers on Episode 3 of the Nicktoons Network Animation Festival, August 27th at 10PM EST/7PM PST.
