Sleeve Gag 1: EmoBeard
The most popular MooBeard sleeves suggestion was, for some reason, more MooBeards. To me, that’s like wishing for more wishes. There is one MooBeard in his sleeve, though, and that’s his dark, gloomy side, EmoBeard (I almost called him MoodBeard, but that’s too many consonants). That’s right, MooBeard maintains his upbeat, confident personality by hiding his sadness in his sleeves.
More dumb sleeve jokes to come!
MooBeard’s Sleeves!
So, for those of you who haven’t been paying attention, MooBeard’s amazing cartoon ability is that he can make anything he wants come out of his sleeves. I’m in the mood to do some crazy MooBeard sleeve gags, so I thought I’d find out what you, the citizens of the internet, would like to see come out of MooBeard’s mysterious arm-holes. I’ll pick my favorite suggestions from the Frederator board and from Deviantart and do some drawings for all to see.
What would you like to see, folks?
After the Fact
So– while all the Random! creators have had a hand in documenting their production, nobody’s talked much about what its like once everything’s finished, especially for a noob like myself. I thought I’d talk a little about what it was like for me following MooBeard.
Otaku Generation!
I’ve been interviewed on my favorite podcast, Otaku Generation! They talk to me about cartoons and music, and they play a few new TV’s Kyle tunes, too. Check it out for free at http://otakugeneration.libsyn.com/ , or subscribe on iTunes! A warning, though, this show is not intended for children and can get a bit randy from time to time. Mature audiences only, please. Enjoy!
The Naked Trucker and T-Bones
I should’ve made a post about this two weeks ago: Be sure to catch The Naked Trucker and T-Bones show wednesday nights on Comedy Central! It stars Dave (Gruber) Allen (a goof friend of mine who also plays Dark Blade of Fire in MooBeard) and Dave Koechner who you may remember as Champ Kind from Anchorman in a funny modern-day Smothers Brothers kinda thing. It’s a great show with a lot of heart, so be sure to check it out! Also, if you keep an eye on the backup band, you’ll see Andy Paley, who did the music for MooBeard as well as that killer Spongebob album, behind the drums.

Spookycube: The Quest for Pie
While “MooBeard” is my first commercial film, it’s not quite my first completed film. The first one… was a goofy little thing I made in Mario Paint called “6th Grade Fashion Police”. I don’t know where that is.
Anyway, this is a flash cartoon I made in 2002 in order to teach myself Flash. In an age where stuff like “Foster’s Home” and Andrew Kauervane’s “My God, Robots” are reinventing the medium, this is starting to show its age… but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it anymore.
What prompted me to post it here?
I totally put it on YouTube, that’s what. Enjoy!
The MooBeard That Ain’t: Quill
(The above drawing was colored brilliantly by Verna Jääskinen)
Here’s the next installment in my series of posts about what you won’t see in the MooBeard short. The next crew member that didn’t make the cut for the short is Quill.

Ridin’ the Hook
When a legendary musician, America’s foremost voice actor, and the keyboard player for one of your favorite bands asks one to star in a music video, one generally says “yes”. Andy Paley and Tom Kenny have made a rediculously good Spongebob album called “The Best Day Ever”. They wanted to make a music video (directed by Jillinda Palmer of The Breakups) to promote it, and they asked me to star in it. In a Spongebob costume. In public. Ladies and gentlemen, my proudest moment:
Spread the word! Check out the album!
