Digital School
Here’s a shot of the completed model of our school setting for “Six Monsters”. The action all takes place in this hallway, which is based on an older school, around 1950’s or early 1960’s.
The first image is a wireframe view of the set. Each place where the lines cross is a vertex (point), and each surface that is created by a connected set of verts is called a “polygon” or “poly”.
Here is a close up view of part of the set.
We’ll have some more character stuff to post real soon. Keep watching!

Thanks. Textures are being worked on and applied to the model at the moment. We should be posting some of those images soon.

I’ve been in the industry for a while now and it looks like all the geometry is overly dense…You could probably get away great textures on less geometry and that will save you lots of render time. The problem with 3D backgrounds now days is that there is a perception of how BG’s should be complex. When it’s all about the characters and how well they are ANIMATED. EX. Final Fantasy/Spirit Within.Anyways, good luck with your show. When will we see some ANIMATION…:)

Thanks for your feedback 11. Our goal was to get away from the typical 3d environment where everything is modeled straight and perfect and then loaded with complex textures that are equally render intensive. In order to get soft bends and skews in all the geometry we had to make it more dense. And my biggest concern was not being able to see the tesellation of the geometry in the final render. Hopefully the end result will be a nice, soft look with simple textures.
