I was working on some Sparkles and Gloom drawings this afternoon and happened to receive this psychic message from Duck, lost at a bus stop somewhere in LA. Poor little guy. He’s resorting to psychic messages to get back on the blog. Either that or I’ve been working too hard.
Oh well. I’m sure he’ll decipher that map sooner or later. Back to drawing!
Looks like Tabby and her mom have found the swanky hotel pool! A good thing too, if this summer is anything like last. (I remember one July afternoon when the weather had the temperature at 115*! Ew…)
Back when I was pitching Mind the Kitty as a series 2 years ago, Tabby’s mom wasn’t “Tabby’s mom”, but “Fifi LaOui”, femme fatale and neighbor of Duck (who Duck also had a huge crush on.) She was human for a time before someone pointed out to me that because of this, she didn’t fit properly with the rest of the gang. So, she became a cat, and I like her better this way!
I’ll try and find some old designs of her if I can…until then, let’s hope Tabby can stay afloat in that tube….
Looks like the guys are making a cameo on the BBC…in the EIGHTIES!?! How did they get all the way back there? Yikes, I was a young ‘un myself back then. Have they borrowed a homemade time machine from someone? Finsters, I’m looking in your direction….
Bonus points to whoever can tell me what show they’re in. Eric H, I know you know this one!
After finishing on MTK, the guys have all split up to check out the masterpiece of urban sprawl that is Los Angeles! So what have they all been up to…?
Well, Lemurman seems to have kept close to the studio. And, it would appear, the muffins in the kitchen. Security doesn’t seem to pleased…oh well. Behold, the power of MUFFIN FORT!
A proud moment today in the journey of MTK…we have locked picture! Which means that the animation is set! In stone! For all concievable eternity!!
We had a little trouble at the beginning; altogether this time we had to cut down the animation from 7:32 to…..6:52. Including title cards. But I think it came out really well! The pacing is definitely much faster, but since the entire short is well…insane, I think it probably works better that way.
Punky wasn’t so pleased with the cuts, though…
Altogether–since the very first full board–I estimate we’ve cut at least 3-4 minutes of material. Maybe even 5, although I may be exaggerating. *sniff* So many lost scenes….so many memories….
This is one of my favourite shots ever! Background designed by Vanessa Cook, bulldozer designed by Tom Wheeler, the whole business colored by Trish Burgio and animated by the one and only Frank Forte.
I’ll start out by posting this snapshot of Tabby with some new friends in the park…I can’t quite hear what Yaki is yelling, but it sounds like, “Put me down!! Just cause I have wings doens’t mean you can turn me into a kite!!”
Aliki and Nikki, TAG! You’re both it! [Read more…]
