Going Down Memory Lane

characters_color706.jpg

Just playing with some ideas for coloring the gang, to use for the website I’m putting together. I’m not sure if I want outlines or not yet…I don’t want it to look too much like any shows that are already out there. As I continue with design, I’ll play around some with illustrator, and hopefully have a new pass at this in a week or two. The key (no pun intended) thing about Flash animation is that the characters have to be “built.” Flash is a bit like Maya, in that the characters move like puppets, but in Flash their parts are on different levels, and it helps if those parts are really clearly defined. Punky’s head, for example, would be easy to move around since it is separate from his shell. Tabby might be more difficult; since her head is part of her body, her face and arms will have to play [Read more…]

Sides are Neat

November 15th, 2005

Hi everyone! Duck here. This week we’re finishing up the board so Anne can send it to the network. I’m glad I don’t have to be the one to send it over there. Executives make me nervous.

Anne’s needed us to pose a lot more as she’s finishing the storyboard drawings, so she had Tabby play Simon Says to get us to keep still. I think Tabby went a little overboard, though…my wing is still sore…

Also this week, we are putting together Sides, which are mini-scripts the actors read when they audition for voice-overs! Me and Punky have been typing most of them up…Lemurman wants to help but he can’t spell and most of the time he just ends up chewing on the mouse.

Tabby is biting me and yelling SIMON SAYS. I don’t think she realizes we’re done playing. OUCH!

TABBY POST!

TABBY POST TABBY POST TABBY POST TABBY POST!
(Anne: I think what Tabby is trying to say is that she is excited to be in charge of the “Mind The Kitty” blog this afternoon!)

TSHIRT! WEBSITE! TABBY POST TABBY POST TABBY POST!
(That’s right! Today we’re starting to think about how we want to promote MTK! Making some t-shirts, and maybe a website? Thanks to Dahveed of Teapot fame for some great ideas! It’s important to get the word out as soon as possible, so tons of people get to check out the short next year when it airs!)

BUSYBUSYBUSY!!!!
(On top of storyboards, this makes for a very busy Anne!)

DUCK! DUCK DUCK DUCK!
(Duck has been very helpful in looking after Tabby…particularly when everyone was posing for this nice family photo…)

CHAINSAW!
(Er…maybe later.)

Break…for blogging!

November 9th, 2005

Anne here, just taking a break from refining my rapidly expanding production board to share some development art–painted by an amazingly talented artist named Lou Romano!

Lou has worked pretty much everywhere, right now he’s up at Pixar working on their next project. He’s a friend of my director at Renegade, Nate Pacheco, and Nate was kind enough to ask Lou to do this great painting! I love the colors, and I’m definitely leaning towards using his ideas for the backgrounds/layouts– monochromatic, a little bit painterly–but simple! Any opinions?

Also, I had to post this helpful diagram of Street Cred. Yo.

Pre-Casting happy fun time!

Hi! i’m lemurman. I’m a lemur. I have a neat tail. i like shiney things and bananas and lint and phone cords and the colur bloo and

Anne has told me to rite about the pre-cast meeting we have to go to today. I hope it will not be long. Or boring. I dont like boring things. we will meet with the casteeng derektor and try and figure out what kind of actors are going to do our voices in the cartoon. I think we should do our own voices. I want to tell the casteeng direktor that. Anne sez no.

also we have to rite about ourselves and have pitcures of ourselvs when we go to the meeting. this is a picture of tabby’s mom. she is kinda scary, huh? but she is kinda pretty…when she’s not freakin out about stuff.

100% Blogged Goodness

November 3rd, 2005

So I’ve finally got a computer in my office, (thanks to a collective effort on the part of some friends) and it’s time for me to introduce myself and the creatures currently residing with me.

Hi! My name is Anne Walker. And along with the aformentioned computer-moving “helpers” (aka Duck, Punky, Lemurman, and Tabby) I am setting out to make a very silly cartoon. It involves kittens, babysitting, and chainsaws. And everyone loves chainsaws.

Everyone.

But sharp, unwielding power tools aside, I am unbelievably psyched to be here and to be a part of Oh Yeah! I especially have to thank Fred, Larry, Eric, Claudia, and everyone at Frederator for giving me this INCREDIBLE opportunity! I am so grateful to have been given a shot at this. Life is pretty darn sweet sometimes.

A bit about me…previous to this I was an animator on “Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi” over at Renegade [Read more…]
