She may not look like much….

April 10th, 2008

Holy Cow! What do ya mean she doesn’t look like much!? This looks like it’s finally a Millenium Falcon done right - for your Star Wars figures!! It looks massive and has more features than you can shake a stick at! And trust me, when wielding a stick there’s no end to what you can shake it at! My friend, Erin, sent this link to me, so go check it out HERE! It looks like there’s some new figures posted there too - they appear to be from the new animated Clone Wars movie!

EDIT: Sorry, just had to add more to this post! Make sure you check out the image of the back of the package with all the features in this thing. It looks like it does lines from the movies as well as light up. It has a fantastic interior with all the areas shown in the movies. It even [Read more…]

Not exactly toys….

April 7th, 2008

Ok, so it’s not exactly toys, but games can be toys….and overly expensive phones should be considered “toys” for the crowds of adults using them. So, here is some cool use for the IPhone with tilt controls for Quake!

Some amazing customs work….

April 4th, 2008

Ok, I’ve been watching this guy’s website for a month or so and he does AMAZING work! I’ve also seen his work through Toyfare magazine, whenever they’ve used it. He does superheroes, Transformers, and video game characters, heck, he does it all! Then sells them on Ebay, and they don’t seem to do too shabby. He does an excellent job with the customs he does. He also has several “how-to” guides and an archive of the old figures he’s done. You gotta take a look through all of them. Check out his site Here!

I’ll be putting some of his guides to use as I attempt my next few custom figures…I think I might make one of myself next. Maybe that’s too weird? I’m sure it’s some form of imbalance, but hey, we’re all mad here! I’m gone for the weekend, so I’ll blabber more on Monday - til then, you [Read more…]

And now for something completely different….

Everyone’s pal, Floyd Bishop, sent me this link to a website full of toy inspired art. Some of the work is really cool - it was posted as April 1st, so it could all be a gag, but still some really fun artwork on the site. Check it out HERE!
Hmmm..toy inspried art……maybe I should try that…..nah, I’ll just stick to some custom figures for now. I’ve got several in the planning stages, just have to figure out how to give up sleep and have enough hours in the day to do them!

I’ll open some more figures while I ponder a life without sleep…

Gears are g-r-r-rinding!

April 3rd, 2008

In case you hadn’t seen these Gears of War figures - they’re coming out soon, sometime this month. Here’s a look at their packaging art HERE!
I can’t say I found too much interest in the game, but I know a lot of people out there that loved it. The figures look very well done, but NECA always seems to do a great job on their sculpting work.

Now, go borrow that saw rifle and get your figures open!

IronMan movie figures…

April 2nd, 2008

So, I picked up the snap-on armor version of Iron Man and his Mark01 suit. Both figures are pretty cool. They got fewer joints than the Marvel Legends figures - that might be to make them more kid friendly? The sculpts are nice on them, and the paint apps are good on the two I got (although I usually compare several in store before I buy them) I can’t really say the Tony Stark sculpt looks terribly similar to Robert Downey Jr, but he definitely looks like “Stark”. The packaging is typical packaging and looks nice. They added a nice touch to the card inserts - the inside of the package looks like the internal side of the armor, so that’s a nifty little addition. I apologize for not having pictures of the guys I bought, but my wife has been finishing the yearbook for our daughter’s school - so [Read more…]

Go, Go, Get some figures!!!

April 1st, 2008

Go! Go, Speed Racer!!
I was just out at Target over lunch and they had put out all the new Speed Racer movie figures.
Lots of different sets and sizes. I didn’t pick any up….yet. They have sets of 4″ figures with their vehicles, which all looked really cool. They reminded me of the old M.A.S.K. toys. (an incredibly cool series of toys from the 80’s that I’m VERY surprised hasn’t been updated yet!) They also had a lot of Hot Wheels type tracks and cars. Small models of the cars, and a large set of a 6 or 7 inch Speed Racer and scaled Mach 5. They had small 2 packs of the 4 inch figures with small motorcycle type vehicles as well. So, everyone can enjoy Speed depending on your price point! [Read more…]
