STILL the stuff of cheesey nightmares!

April 29th, 2008

sleestaksnew8644.jpg

Ok, not exactly “toys” news yet. But we all know if it’s a movie nowadays we’re gettin toys from it!
So, over at Ain’t it Cool News they have an article on the new Land of the Lost movie HERE

Nice update to the Sleestaks, and I will have to have a figure of one standing on my desk. He’ll probably end up on the shelf tormenting the Doctor Who figures, and Back to the Future figures (time travellers after all). Anyway, check out the update and go rip into those figures like a slow moving Sleestak after Marshal and Will’s Brady Bunch hair!

2-1B in package or not 2-1B in package….

I know I yammer a lot about opening your figures. It’s just something I’m pretty adament about. I mean, it’s toys after all! BUT, action figure packaging has become quite cool over the past years. They’ve gone from being just standard rectangular cards or boxes to being oblong, specialized shapes, etc.

Super Heroically cute!

how-super-is-your-squad8601.jpg

Ok, I don’t have any of these little guys, but I ‘ve been tempted - they’re just a lot of fun looking. I suppose if I had a kid in that age group, then I’d have all of them [Read more…]

He’s on his way!

fredbase8595.jpg

After getting to help Floyd and Lisa with the Fredbot logo animation, I just felt like I needed to try and do a toy of the ol FredBot. So, I found this figure of Gigantor - kinda looks similar to our intrepid entrepreneurial giant robotic friend with dangerously spikey eyebrows? I found the figure at Big Bad Toy Store - they’re a great online store if you’re having trouble finding something or just don’t want to mess with hunting in the stores! I’ve shopped with them before they even had a store and have never had a problem with them! Anyway, he’s been shipped and is en route. I have some Aves Fixit Sculpt, tools, paintbrushes, X-acto blade, and a bunch of band-aids! Gotta order some paints and then we’ll be ready to roll on the modifications! I’ll be sure to take pics of the mod process I go through!

And, yes, he’ll [Read more…]

That’d be just Prime….

April 22nd, 2008

optimusbust28594.jpg

We’re starting to see toy companies announce their San Diego ComicCon exclusives, and here’s a pretty sweet looking one!
Diamond Select’s Optimus Prime bust looks really sweet. He’s done up to look like his G1 animated style, and even has the Matrix of Leadership in the base. I don’t usually get busts, I try to stick with my figures being “toys” but this bust is pretty tempting. I have most of the Optimus Prime figures they’ve made through the years and I make sure to only pick up the ones that actually “transform”. Prime has pretty much been my all time favorite hero. I’ve been a fan of his character ever since ‘84. There have been several different iterations of the character since ‘84, and tons of figures, but they’ve all kept a very similar design. The character has also stayed true to his roots. He’s a true hero, fighting for the [Read more…]

Ragin Ravin Rancor!

April 17th, 2008

rancor8562.jpg

Who knew that the Rancors got into the whole rave scene!? This guy is all decked out in his glowing paint and ready to rock the clubs! With all those other ravers around. he’ll have plenty of snacks all night as well!
This guy is a Target store exclusive and is actually from the new Force Unleashed vieo game. Check him out HERE!

He’s actually kind of cool, and in the game you have to fight a bunch of these crazy Rancors and they have riders mounted on them and are chasing you down. But, really, can they possibly be any match for someone with the force and a lightsaber? Should be fun, and it certainly beats out Random Alien #245!

So, just keep your eyes peeled for party rancors the next time you’re clubbing!

Oh man! It’s a mail away figure!! It’s part of the new 25th Anniversary GIJoe line. I get so thrilled when I see them offer one of these. They used to be such a big deal when I was a kid. You’d get the little ad for a mail-away figure on your packaging. Then you had to clip and collect points off of each figure - usually around 6 of them! Back then this would take forever!! (at least for me) After you had all your points came the tough part…..convincing your mom to write a check for the shipping and handling fee! I never understood why this was such a huge dealbreaker with my mom. I guess she felt like it was a scam? Or maybe checks cost a lot of money back then, so she couldn’t waste them on a mere 2.95 for shipping and handling! Whatever the [Read more…]

3 Times the personality!

April 15th, 2008

bwingcomp.jpg

Just found some images of one of the new Transformers: Animated figures - Blitwing! He’s a triple changer like in the old series, but not only does he turn into three things, he has three personalities and is quite nuts. One personality is like Col. Klink (I’m waiting for him to scream “HOGAN!”), the second is an Ah-nold charicature, and the last is best described as Deiter from SNL. It’s a nice spin on the character! Here’s where I found them.I’m really impressed with how closely Hasbro is getting the face sculpts on these guys! It makes the wait til June for their release quite a long one! To bide my time until June I kind of already bought an Optimus Prime figure on Ebay. I mean, it wasn’t THAT much of a mark-up! Cincinati got a bunch of the figures released as a test market for them - so [Read more…]

New Post

hasbro-indytlc-02.jpg

Coolio - even more Indiana Jones figs are coming out the woodwork! Hasbro is definitely pulling out all the stops with this line. By this summer, I think there will be as many Indy figs as there are Star Wars figs! I mean, their Star Wars movie line has gotten to the point of making “random alien #253″. I imagine by this fall we’ll have random Indy thug with bad teeth #24
Here’s a link to the new stuff!

But they should all be pretty fun figures to have tooling around the shelves. Heck, they’re the same size as the Star Wars figures, so they can hang out in the Mos Eisley Cantina and laugh at Luke practicing electroshock in the Falcon - but don’t let Han and Indy touch, it might tear a hole in some cosmic space-time continuum thing, and allow Shatner to appear ghostly in your living room with [Read more…]
