Ahoy Mateys! This be yer Cap’n Jeaux Janovsky speaking, wanting to let ye know I didn’t want to be leavin’ ye with nothin’ to do on yer cursed Lunch Break. I done took the liberty o’ taking a break from workin’ on the Fredex project, to get something in front o’ yer bloodshot pupils.
This young, ruff and tuff lass is none other than Nappy-Head Rhonda! How she get’s that blasted bandanna round her thick, poofy, sea-mist plastered orange hair is beyond me bucko! Aye, but she has a beautiful smile… but don’t let it fool ye… she’ll rough you up something good in the face if you make fun of her! You should see the last poor kid she hospitalized after he called her Napoleon Dynamite! (insert Lightning Crack here!) [Read more…]
Recently, I found Joe Barbera’s book My Life in Toons at the local library. I haven’t been able to put it down since. It’s a very insightful read and peek into this man’s life.
Before Joe Barbera got into the crazy world of Cartoons, he worked at a bank as an assistant tax man for six, long, dark years. His only escape and solace were his lunch breaks, where he would spend an hour, perched on a convenient headstone at the local cemetery across from the bank. He would sit down, a sandwich in one hand, a book in the other. For that hour, his mind would wander in and out of books like Somerset Maugham’s Of Human Bondage or Rudyard Kipling’s The Light That Failed.
At about this time, Joe was also reading the magazines of the day as well. Redbook, Saturday Evening Post, and Collier’s. He would spend his nights after [Read more…]
So I’ve been working on the Kinda Top Secret FredEX project for awhile, and have finally nailed down a character design I’m happy with for the project. I can’t really go into the specifics, all’s I can say It’s been fun. Here’s one of the characters:
Anyone know where I can score some good Royalty Free Bossanova Jazz circa late 50s early 60s? I’ve also been listening to a hecka bunch of Astrud Gilberto. She was awesome. -JX!
I hope everyone had a great 3 day weekend. Now no one will see me for at least a week, seeing as I just purchased Lost season 2, Entourage season 1, and The Wizard (starring Fred Savage) and will be in a dvd hibernation coma. -JX!
He’s a cute one ain’t he? He finally came together for me, as a piece, when I painted in his hair. Cristina’s 5 year old niece, Mia, gigled when she saw the undies on his head. Mia’s my Testing Audience. If i can get her to automatically smile and giggle when she first sees a picture, I know I done did good. Here’s some more quotes from GPK hall of famers on Peg Leg Orphanage: “I think your characters are fun, I especially like Octopus Headed Sally. I can easily imagine them animated.”- Patrick Glover “It seems very interesting and appears you’ve been a very busy artist!”- Aron Laikin “Your Peg-Leg artwork is very charming in a throughly perverse kind of way.”- Howard Cruse “You have some nice low-browish art”- Luis Diaz “Cool stuff man! Good luck with the project man, I’ll keep an eye out for the pirates ! ARrrr!!”- Efrain Cintron “I think[Read more…]
“Glad to see another GPK fan infecting the virus ever onward.”-Mark Newgarden, Garbage Pail Kids Creator
Meet Markied-Mark. Yet another Mutant Pirate Baby looking for a good home. Peg-Leg Orphanage made the Las Vegas City Life’s City Pick. “Remember Garbage Pail Kids? Those politically incorrect, hideously deformed whelps dripping with snot and crawling from sewers? They typified everything that made the ’80s great, especially the fascination with twisted innocence that gripped the national psyche in the post-Vietnam era of AIDS, crack and punk rock. They weren’t even that funny, but with names like Arlene Latrine and Didi T., they were sort of brilliant and formed an archetype.
At the moment, the national psyche is, for whatever reason, gripped with black pearl-mongering pirates. It won’t last, but appropriate to this moment, the Funkhouse is hosting Peg-Leg Orphanage, a nursery in paint crawling with the cute bastard children of those other cute bastard children, all bug-eyed [Read more…]

Believe it or not, the other show is at a gallery INSIDE of a Radiator Repair Place. Punk F’ing Rawk. Hence, the art will be on Used Radiators. Guess who I’m painting on that bad-boy radiator…
