I know I’m jumping the gun on this one, but I found out about it in the nick of time. One of my favorite film-makers Lewis Klahr is having a few films screened October 16th, 2006 at Calart’s Redcat in Los Angeles, 8:00pm. I was able to sit in (unofficially) on a few of his classes at Calarts during my time there, when I should’ve been in my animation classes.Needless to say, I learned alot from that time spent ditching those classes. (I don’t recommend this behavior for anyone, but it always worked for me.) [Read more…]
So I was just zoning out, drawing, nothing in particular, til this popped in my head. The Team Fred Robot, Version Jeaux point Style. The tighty whitey undies are a nod and tip of the hat to Eric Homan, who somewhat fueled that idea. As it turns out I’m meeting Fred (Seibert) this Thursday for the first time, and Eric suggested that I wear my underwear on the outside of my pants. I also can’t forget the time that, while in worry mode over one of my first pitches to Team Fred, Eric told me I should dress up like a princess and make sure my tiara was set in place. That Eric. He sure has a great sense of humor! Looking forward to meeting you Fred. See you guys Thursday! -JX!

Ahoy Mateys! This be yer Cap’n Jeaux Janovsky speaking, wanting to let ye know I didn’t want to be leavin’ ye with nothin’ to do on yer cursed Lunch Break. I done took the liberty o’ taking a break from workin’ on the Fredex project, to get something in front o’ yer bloodshot pupils.
This young, ruff and tuff lass is none other than Nappy-Head Rhonda! How she get’s that blasted bandanna round her thick, poofy, sea-mist plastered orange hair is beyond me bucko! Aye, but she has a beautiful smile… but don’t let it fool ye… she’ll rough you up something good in the face if you make fun of her! Recently, I found Joe Barbera’s book My Life in Toons at the local library. I haven’t been able to put it down since. It’s a very insightful read and peek into this man’s life.
Before Joe Barbera got into the crazy world of Cartoons, he worked at a bank as an assistant tax man for six, long, dark years. His only escape and solace were his lunch breaks, where he would spend an hour, perched on a convenient headstone at the local cemetery across from the bank. He would sit down, a sandwich in one hand, a book in the other. For that hour, his mind would wander in and out of books like Somerset Maugham’s Of Human Bondage or Rudyard Kipling’s The Light That Failed.
At about this time, Joe was also reading the magazines of the day as well. Redbook, Saturday Evening Post, and Collier’s. He would spend his nights after [Read more…]
So I’ve been working on the Kinda Top Secret FredEX project for awhile, and have finally nailed down a character design I’m happy with for the project. I can’t really go into the specifics, all’s I can say It’s been fun. Here’s one of the characters:
Anyone know where I can score some good Royalty Free Bossanova Jazz circa late 50s early 60s? I’ve also been listening to a hecka bunch of Astrud Gilberto. She was awesome. -JX!
I hope everyone had a great 3 day weekend. Now no one will see me for at least a week, seeing as I just purchased Lost season 2, Entourage season 1, and The Wizard (starring Fred Savage) and will be in a dvd hibernation coma. -JX!
