Ron Schmeck
Silly record but I love it anyway. A totally unpretentious privately pressed local record with 12 tunes about the joys of living in an RV and the benefits of owning a mobile home. Written by Sacramento area RV dealer Ron Schmeck who does a good job pointing out the drawbacks of maintaining a traditional home. Mowing the lawn always was a pain in the ass, and yeah, I DO hate dealing with annoying neighbors — and the co-op board now! I wonder sometimes if I’d be better off with a Good Sam Club membership and an Airstream.
Music is standard late ’70s c&w fare with fiddles and twangy guitar, and vocals that are fairly nondescript, but the lyrics and concept are free of irony and one of a kind. The highlight being the classic “outsider” anthem “I’m Proud to own a Mobile Home”.

I have a copy of this. It is a truly great LP: “Papa Can I Go Fishin’” is the best IMHO.

I wonder what Ron would think about these:

I’m thinking about picking one up myself.

Ron,
My dad was one of the Wild Brothers and passed away 12 years ago. He, Rick and Joe were on your show. I am trying to get a copy of the show and would be willing to purchase all episodes because I am not sure exactly which episode they were on. I’ve written to Fox TV KXTL but have not heard anything back.
My dad’s name was Barry. He was the bass player with Rick and Joe Wild (original Wild Brothers).
Can you help?
Lori

Your ole tv director is live and well, working for the Governator and keeping convicted felons behind bars.

hey Ron. My dad, Gary Brown, brought home that Easy Livin’ country record. he was a friend of yours. He launched Sac magazine. My wife and i bought a Tioga a couple years ago. An RV is lots of work!

Hello Ron - I’m Barry’s daughter checking back in with you to see if you have had any success in finding copies of the old shows that my dad may have been in. I know you’re busy but am wondering if there would be ANY possibility of getting anything before Christmas? I’d love to give something like that to my kids for Christmas. I have a new email - it is: nanniellebliss@yahoo.com. Lori Vierra Cooley

Wow Ron. I would be forever grateful. My three sons loved my dad so much and we have a couple of tapes with him singing but not very much. Anyway the youngest boy who is a full grown man now still has a hard time with him being gone and occasionally it just brings him to tears. They were very close. We have limited pictures and NO video so anything you could come up with I (again) would be forever grateful for. Let me know what I need to do.
Thank you “so” much.
Kindest regards,
Lori (Vierra) Cooley

Holy Cow, Ron Schmeck! Are you still in Sacramento? If so, would you be willing to sign my copy? My email is vespalfa at surewest dot net.
