Astro Fred!
Here’s my good friend Fred as a kind of astronaut robot. I had a blast doing my art for this year’s awards program and I get endless inspiration from the book “Tin Toy Dreams” featuring the collection of T. Kitahara.

In keeping with the theme of last week’s post, here are two of the Star Trek Next Generation promos that I did for TNN (now Spike) a few years ago. The talented Tina Potter produced and the equally talented Travis Pomposello did the music and sound design.

Captain Picard (Parick Stewart) is getting rave reviews for his performance of Macbeth at BAM in Brooklyn. There’s even talk of a Broadway run making the good captain eligible for a Tony!

A recent post compared Drinking and Drawing to the game Exquisite Corpse. That’s where you fold a piece of paper into thirds, one person draws the head, the next the torso and the last the legs. I used to play this game when I was a kid with my friends. Now I play it with my family, usually when we’re in a restaurant waiting for our food to show up.

Drinking and Drawing was a blast! Got to hang out with old friends like Mo Willems and Bill Pympton and make some new friends too. Dan Meth was a gracious host and Carrie Miller reigned supreme at the sign in table. Said hello to Jeaux and Lee and talked Middle Schools with Next New Network’s Herb Scannel. Ofcourse Fred was there, spreading good cheer and cool coasters.

There was a lot of great Ike Turner music on WFMU last weekend. Both as a performer and producer and even a replay of an interview with DJ Rex. I got to hear it because my friend Richard (AKA: the Cel King) made me a tape, but you can hear it by going to WFMU’s archive.

It was my good fortune to have coffee with Alan Katz last week. Alan is the brilliant mind behind the Silly Dilly book series that includes “Take Me Out of the Bathtub”. He also wrote the workbook “Stinky Thinking” and hosts a radio version of his game “That’s Right, That’s Wrong” on XM radio on Fridays from 6 to 7 PM EST.

Here’s a promo for my friend Julia Gran’s children’s book “Big Bug Surprise!” Julia is a very talented illustrator and children’s book author. Her book would make a great stocking stuffer, if you have a big square stocking.

Here’s the original Story Board for my Dino ID produced by the original Fred/Alan. If you look closely, you can just make out Tom Pomposello’s note: “no cuts; continuous camera moves” under the first panel.
You can see this spot in Channel Frederator’s episode # 107.
