Introducing, the first color models for Girls on the GO!

Kat’s eye color will be green, but other than that, I am really happy with how these have turned out. The only one I haven’t decided on, is Tess. There is the tendacy, to make a character like her be dressed in all black, or dark blue…but she is NOT all doom and gloom…so I was thinking of maybe making her a little more funky and artsy, than goth.
Peeps out there, in Frederator-land, what do YOU think??

Btw…the color styling was done by the ever-so-talented, Leticia Lacy!

All Greek to me!

One thing I talk about with each artist working on “Girls on the GO!”, is how we can plus the story and understanding of the characters, with each piece of artwork that is created. Like, when we look at Kat’s room, we need to know who she is, and what she’s into, and when we see how kids are dressed, or wearing their hair, we know they could be hip art-types that live in Hollywood, this also goes for the props we are creating for the show.
In this particular 7 minute episode, there isn’t enough time to get into the fact that Kat comes from a Greek family…but in this one shot of the Metropoulos’s foyer, the elements in the BG help us get an idea she just might.

Here is more color work from Jenny! We had discussed that Kat’s room should be girly, in an Urban Outfitters way rather than a super flowery way…she really accomplished this with her choice of color and soft vs. hard shapes. Yay!

My name is Aliki, and I am a GOG.

Mrs. Dusenberry

When I was in Kindergarten, I had a teacher named Mrs. Dusenberry. I loved her name so much, that it has always stuck. My mom was volunteering at the elementry school I went to, when Mrs. Dusenberry retired, and she wrote a song for the class to sing to her. For some reason, I still remember the words and the tune to the song:
“Mrs. Dusenberry we hate to see you go, you taught us to read and write and watched us grow, we hope you have fun and enjoy your rest, but always remember…we love you the best!”
At the time, I was proud of myself for helping my mom find something that rhymed with “best”.
So, here I am maaaany years later, and I get to use this fun name that has stuck in my head for one of my characters. Unfortunately, Kat’s teacher, Mrs. Dusenberry is nothing like my sweet [Read more…]
