Greetings kartoon luvas!
I am so happy to be back at Nickelodeon working with the Frederator team on short #2! I feel so fortunate to get to have this experience again, and want to thank everyone for bringing me back!
“Girls On the GO!” was originally a show about a group of girls in their first year of college. I had always had a dream to do a show about girl characters, that wasn’t either about dolls and fluff, or girl characters that are really just boys that look like girls…characters that are true to how we really are. Though the show idea always had a great response anywhere it was pitched, in the end it was always decided that it would be tough to find an audience for this age group. At one point, I had gotten a call from a major studio, letting me know that they wanted to go ahead and develop it…2 weeks later, I got another call stating that it was decided that it would be tough to do a girl show, since “girls don’t watch cartoons”. That was in 2002.
Since then many things have happen..Most importantly, Fred and Eric got behind the project, and always showed lots of support for it. We decided though, that yes, the show could be reconcieved with the girls being much younger (9th grade) without losing the underlying themes of the characters, and the stories.
I redesigned the girls, came up with a story, and pitched, pitched, pitched!
Finally, the day has come, when Kat, Contessa, Gypcy, and Kelly will get to come to life.
YOU GO GIRLS!!!

Congrats Aliki!! The characters are really good! Just make sure they’re older looking. I know you’re aware, just reminding you. Also like i said on the other post for your girl characters give them a bit of a chest, i mean they are in 9th grade. Keep up the good work! Talk soon! -Steve

Hey Stephen, you got a thing for girl’s chests? Eh? Eh? Oh yeah, you’re a 9th grade boy. Of course you do. What was I thinking!

Stephen, you would be happy to know, that the girls designs have been revised, and they thank you for it! (Tess however, is a late bloomer, and will remain the same)

Aliki, im very happy!! I feel like i have contributed to an Oh Yeah Cartoon, and it feels GREAT! I cant wait till you post the drawings!! -Steve

Congratulations Aliki!!! The characters look really cute and fun. I know how hard you worked on this short. I wish you all the best! Let me know when they show it on TV.

Congrats on your project. I’m totally gonna look out for it!!

Wow! That is a great idea. I can’t wait to watch the show. I thik it will have a huge audience, because kids watch shows in a range from way older than them up to their age or a bit younger than them. I for one am a girl, and I watched and still watch cartoons!! Can’t wait for this to air!!!

This is the project we were talking about right? Cool!!! I’m so excited for you!!!

I am really excited for you and can’t wait to see this when it airs! Keep us updated and I’m going to tell all the kids in my family to stay tuned. I’m a fan of your artwork and I can’t wait to see it in action.

I can remember when Girls on the Go was a concept…to see how it has evolved and finally reached the point of being animated is very exciting. You have to admire my sister’s tenacity and spirit….and thank you to Fred for his vision.

Well, I am really excited that these GIRLS are finally ON THE GO!!! Even if they had to shrink themselves down to get there.(Hehe!)What a wonderful opportunity nonetheless!

Knowing my daughter and her natural wit and talent in expressing everyday events in such a humorous and clever way, I am sure that this short will be enjoyed by all. And who knows… maybe some day they will be given another opportunity to grow back to their original size. (wink!)

O, Aliki, I’m so excited for you. What an impressive feat! You’ll have to let us know when it comes on, so we can watch out for it=)

Those designs rock!

Aliki, I can’t wait to see this come to “life”. You’re so talented!
