I remember the flying hunk o’ metal! I always wondered what the hell it was supposed to be about.
However, I had no problem caring what splashing people with green goo was about. On the whole we don’t splash others with green goo as much as we should.
I can’t imagine a place that created kids television being quiet as a chapel. That must have been a scary sight. I think that part of the interview process should include being dumped on with green goo and assessing the candidate’s reaction.
For example, the response, “Why is this goo green instead of orange?” might win the interview, whereas, “You just ruined my tie you buffoon!” might not.
Goo for thought.

That’s a great story, Fred! I think you guys were right on, developing a moving logo that print could stop for its purposes. It would’ve been going backward to do it the other way.

That’s a great story. People are bombarded by logos and tv station ids so frequently, it’s easy to forget that someone somewhere had to put this stuff together. I’m wondering why the network color is bright orange? Is there a story there, or is it just orange because it’s orange?

I sort of skimmed by it in the 11th paragraph. Tom Corey said he picked orange because it was a color that was rare in nature, and so it brightly stood out, kind of in your face. And because it was so hard to match with anything, when you plastered it on top of anything (and everything) it would clash, and therefore be pretty memorable. Assuming we did cool things with it, which, of course, I think we did.
