“…even though it was at an unGodly hour! :-)”

A colleague of mine from back in the day, Bill Sobel has been running a great networking breakfast called the New York :: Media Information Exchange Group. He was kind enough to have me as his speaker last week and my first TV boss and current investor Bob Pittman was kind enough to introduce me — that’s part of his quote in the title: “Lots of fun…even though it was at an unGodly hour! :-)”.

I mainly spoke to traditional media folk telling them not to be worried about what they dont’ know about new media. No one else really understands anything about it either, so they’re not alone.

Stick to the things you understand and the media will take care of itself.

I’m sure it’s professional jealousy…

I’m sure it’s professional jealousy but I never liked Pinky & the Brain or Animaniacs. But my sons do (particularly my 11 year old) so I figured I’d take the sucker bait from the marketing guy, Nick, who wrote and asked me to mention that Volume 2 of each is availble now on DVD. Happy Merry.

If you’re a member of the TV Academy or ASIFA-Hollywood, vote Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! (and Bob Boyle) as the Best Show.

Paul Corio.

Illustrator Paul Corio did some great work for my agency Fred/Alan in the early 90s and we hadn’t caught up in years when he came by a couple weeks ago. He showed me a book (written with Paul Abruzzo) of a character he created called How Stubborn Stinky Got His Name.

Along the way we discovered we had a lot more in common than his great illustrations; a lot of close friends, a love of jazz (Paul’s not only a drummer but operated his own record label). And I shouldn’t forget about his great abstract paintings.

And when he left, Paul left me some of his work in a personalized pig envelope. Thanks guy, good to see you.
