Oh Yeah! Manny Galan & Alan Goodman.

January 25th, 2006

They’re moving in for number 2.

Manny & Alan aren’t the first and they won’t be the last of this season’s creators to try for a second short. Yesterday they came by with the unique sci-fi comedy Dogstar.

Everyone better hurry, we’re down to the wire.

This is tooo good. When u say down to wire, are you talking about 1-5 spots left? :(

Stephen, don’t sweat it. 1) You’ve got a lot of time left to become a professional. 2) The last slots are the hardest to fill. 3) By the end of the year we’ll have made 139 shorts. They’ll be more, for sure.

Yea, im just very anxious lol. Hopefully i get a shot at season 4 for OH YEAH! See you tomorrow!

What? That is so amazingly cool. I LOVE the design of those ships. And that little horse faced guy is pretty cool too. Something about the characters design reminds me of Gerald Scarfe. I would love to see a Sci-fi cartoon comedy. It’s a genre that isn’t done too often or well in cartoons but it shouldn’t be that way. So cool….

I agree with everything u said.. except, idk who Gerald Scarfe is :) lol

Umm….he’s a dog not a horse. It’s not HORSE STAR! Actually he does look kinda horsey but he’s meant to be a Grey Hound. Kind of point and angular. I think this is why it reminds you of Gerald Scarf.
Thanks for looking and keep your fingers crossed. This would make a great toy wouldn’t it?

Gerald Scarfe is a european animator/Illustrator who uses a lot of swooshy, brushy, pen strokes in his art…I think it’s that little Dog guys arms or body shape that reminds me of his work. That little bug ship is such a neat little design.

Fred you should think about putting together a book with all the art from the pitches to OH YEAH! or maybe offer it as downloadable desktops or something. This is an awesome piece. That BG from Krunch and the Kid is my current desktop.

Hey Manny and Alan:
I love the look of this show! The ship has a cool 2D “cutout” look to me. I look forward in seeing more!
Take care. Jeff

Hey Jeff, thanks for the compliment, coming from a talented pro like yourself it means a lot. If this ever happened I would love for it to be a CGI toonshaded ship made to match the 2D animated characters. This ship is the result of lots of back and forth sketching between myself and my friend ED RESTO who is an insane model builder with a passion for space ships. He’s actually building a model of the DOGSTAR for fun….perhaps when it’s done we’ll post a pic…thanks again.

Oo! Space adventures! This is so cute! The bug ship is mine! [Are those the bad guys or the good guys?]

Ha! My favorite is the Flea Shuttle as well. It’s a smaller craft that comes out of the DOGSTAR’s back landing bay. They use it when they need to land on the surface of a planet and pick up some popcorn and Shasta, the Captains favorite drink.

Shouldn’t you guys be working on your first cartoon? How do you find the time? I have to admit I don’t really care about sci-fi but this looks really cool, at least the ships do. Are there any characters other than that little horse? Kidding…I read the other post.

The space idea will be huge, especially for boys. Think of all the cool products and spaceships that could be made into toys! I love it and cannot wait to see more. WHEN is this going to be on air?
Hey, not only could you tap into the kids toy market with this but into pet stores as well! People will buy anything for their dogs. I would def. buy this stuff since it looks so cool, not like anything out there…..
May the force be with you!

Hi JenA, Unfortunately this is only at this point a pitch. Although don’t think the idea of toys didn’t come to mind when I was designing this stuff. I worked in Consumer Products for years designing toys so I think I have a natural inclination to make things toyetic. Thanks for posting…

I absolutely love the artwort. It reminds me of being a kid and looking forward to Saturday cartoons. Good luck.

SOOOO proud to see this up and coming! CAN’T wait for MORE.. MUST SEE MORE!!!!!

Yet another brilliant creation. This page certainly doesn’t do it justice, I need to see more of it.

I want my Dogstar spaceship playset now! And collectable action figures! Good luck with the pitch, guys!

I actually don’t know who half of you guys are so I’m thankful that this is making the rounds out there. I really appreciate all your interest in this. Alan and I will be re-working the script and we will be re-pitching it again soon. I’m sure Fred will post more art along with it. Thanks for your support guys. Keep watching!

This stuff looks awesome! Good luck guys!! I would love to see this!!!!!

Perfecto. Nice ships. The U.S.S. Dogstar would be a cool big sized stuffed Plush toy.

What an awesome ship! Dog Star–haven’t seen anything like it! I love it! I can’t wait to see more. I agree with the toys, my nephews would beg for the toys in an instant (not to mention they would love the animation!). The design is wonderful. I love the characters–they are so fun and look hilarious and very cool from just seeing them in the very sharp trailer. I hope everything keeps going, it’s very interesting and would make a wonderful animation…kids and adults would love it!– I love it. Hope to see it airing soon—even though I know the process is just beginning for you guys! Just great work–
