I mean, really limited. In fact, there’s only one of these and it’s in Eric Robles’s office here at Nick. (I’ll give the Chum Chum and Kyle posters their own posts later.)
The poster was designed and illustrated by the show’s art director, Chad Woods.

Exclusive Fanboy poster for Comic-Con
Hey, you, are you heading to Comic-Con this week? If you are, you’d be totally remiss if you didn’t check out the Fanboy panel on Saturday afternoon. Artists and actors will take the stage to much critical acclaim. To boot, creator Eric Robles will be on hand to sign posters exclusive to the convention (image above).* Here’s the dope:
3:00-4:00 Nickelodeon’s Fanboy & Chum Chum: Blah! Blah! Blah!— Squeeze into your tighty-whities and join executive producer/creator Eric Robles, along with executive producer/story editor Steve Tompkins, and supervising producer Jason Meier for a FAN-tastic sneak peek into the crazy world of Fanboy & Chum Chum. Fanboy and Chum Chum

Brian Sheesley, at the podium, Eric Robles, in the center, Jim Schumann, and Ginny McSwain get some well-deserved recognition
A big tip of the hat to Jim Schumann, Brian Sheesley, and Ginny McSwain. The trio won the award in the Directing in an Animated Program category as part of the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Friday night. Jim and Brian were stalwart animation directors throughout the first season of Fanboy, while there couldn’t have been a voice director any better than Ginny to get the series up and rolling. Thanks, and congratulations to all three.
And let’s hear it for re-recording mixers Michael Beiriger, CAS, and Ray Leonard at Advantage Audio. They nabbed an Emmy for Sound Mixing - Live Acton and Animation for their work on The Fairly OddParents. Thanks, guys.
Ancient Fanboy Promo

Fanboy & Chum Chum promo interstitial 1 from fredseibert on Vimeo.
So way back at the beginning of production, Eric and his crew produced a series of short Fanboy promos to tease the show. The gang worked pretty hard on them, but, to the best of my knowledge, the clips never aired. The characters evolved a bit between the time they were made and when they were scheduled to air, so maybe that’s why. Here’s the first. Eric and Andy Kelly handled the storyboard, and Brian Sheesley directed.

Daytime Emmy Award Nominations Announced
Fanboy and Chum Chum
Fanboy & Chum Chum Main Title from fredseibert on Vimeo.
The main title, nominated for a Daytime Emmy
If Steve and Caesar winning juried Daytime Emmy Awards for Individual Achievement in Animation weren’t enough, Fanboy and Chum Chum is now nominated in two competitive categories, too. First, directors Jim Schumann and Brian Sheesley, along with voice director Ginny McSwain, are in the race for Directing in an Animated Program. Their competitors are all on Nick shows - Mighty B!, SpongeBob, and Penguins. I’d like them all to win, but I want the Fanboy team to win more.
Then there’s the nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Main Title and Graphic Design. This goes to a whole group of folks, comprising:
Shaun Cashman, Director - Graphics
Eric Robles, Creator/Character Designer
Caesar Martinez, Background Layout Designer
Niki Yang, Storyboard Artist
Erik Kling, Animator
Dennis Shelby, Animator
Chad Woods, Art Director
Steve Lambe, Character Designer
The competition here is Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and Avec Eric.
The Daytime Emmy Awards will air live on CBS [Read more…]
“Original Cartoons, Volume 2: The Frederator Studios Postcards 2006-2010
Fred Seibert’s Blog
It took a while to get the gallies right, but the second collection of Frederator’s postcards is available over at Amazon.com (the first one’s there too).
Eric Homan is our resident postcard collector, but that’s not the main reason he has an insightful interview here. Entertainment journalist Michael Goldman wanted to get the scoop on how Eric developed the last round of big ideas in our Random! Cartoons shorts incubator, including the background on Fanboy & Chum Chum and Adventure Time. Their cards, and all 39 of the original Random!s, are included in the book.

Eric Robles in the Interview Chair
Fanboy and Chum Chum
Animation Insider has just put online an in-depth interview with your hero and mine, Eric Robles. Conducted by Aaron H. Bynum, the piece covers all things Robles as he gabs about the past, present, and future of Fanboy and Chum Chum.
[W]hat are you most proud of so far, with the first season?
The whole thing. [laughs]
I think the thing I’m really proud of is everything that I’ve learned. A lot of times, for a lot of new creators of shows, sometimes if they’re straight out of school or if it’s their first kind of job, it’s a lot to take in, you know? And one of the key things of having this position is really learning to work with people.
You’ve gotta be open for ideas and open to changes. You can’t be one of those guys who just says, “This is my art…. and it [Read more…]
