Hey Chris,
I’m not sure but I’ll ask Lee nelson to reply to that. He took care of all the amazing lighting and texturing.
Thanks,
Eric

Stephen — Eric’s and Red Eye’s and Kevin Michael Richardson’s work on the Ice Monster is one of the coolest (no pun intended) things this season.

WOW! thanks everyone for your kind words.. We are a glad you like it. The way we lit /textured/shaded fanboy was a combination of old school and new school.. the backgrounds are paintings projected on geomtry then used a ambinet occlusion to bring it out a bit.. the characters (fb,chumchum) we used mental ray’s subsurface scatter to help give em a more softer fleshy/vinyl feel.. it was a gamble from the begining (due to light intereaction and such) but in the end it was well worth.. the ice monster went through tons of revisions, we had him shiny and icy , crystally, and finally forsty ish.. we felt this was best otherwise he was to distracting. glad u all like it, and hope to see many of you thursday and Al of YOU for the screening lol.. im out

Wow guys, this is feature film level quality animation here! Absolutely stunning. And you should be as proud as if not moreso than “punch”. In fact, what is Punch so proud of anyway? It’s mostly water and sugar and a little cancerous Red dye #5? Screw punch. You should be as proud as Wild Turkey, Ripple or even ROT GUT! Really awesome!

Thank you Manny, I’m sure the guys at red eye will be happy and a bit confused to read this.
