Nothing like D+D gets done without a dedicated and kick ass producer, and Carrie Miller (right) fills both bills. She’s been with Frederator/NY for a few years now (after a stint at Camp Chaos) and produces The Meth Minute 39 and The Channel Frederator Awards. D+D is a bear to put together, and now with satellite events starting around the world it keeps her busier than anyone should be.
Lee Rubenstein (left) was a Frederator intern when he helped Dan out that first experiemental, woozy, night, and he’s hung in there even as he’s joined Next New Networks as their production [Read more…]
So we now have proof that Drinking & Drawing truly is the greatest animation event EVER. We had such a blast in New York on Wednesday and a good 250 people showed up. Thanks to everyone who came. Our office staff is steadily plugging away at putting the film itself together, so keep an eye out for that. In the mean time, the photos are steadily loading in to DrinkingAndDrawing.org. Don’t forget to tag those photos “drinkinganddrawing” when you upload them to Flickr! - Carrie
So my technical ineptitude caught up with us, and I made an error in the tagging system for DrinkingAndDrawing.org.
When you’re posting Flickr photos from last night’s event please make the tags “drinkinganddrawing” with no spaces, rather than “drinking and drawing” like we had in an earlier post.
So the first NY D+D event is almost over; it was the greatest. And Portland’s is just starting. Photos post tomorrow.
(If you’re taking pix at either event, please tag your Flickrs with “Drinking and Drawing” and they’ll automatically post over at DrinkingAndDrawing.org.)
Do you want to share the awesome photos you take at Drinking and Drawing with the rest of the world? Well, through modern technology and the wonderful Internets, you can! All you have to do is load your photos onto a Flickr account. Tag those photos with the tag “drinkinganddrawing” and they’ll automatically show up on DrinkingandDrawing.org! How cool is that!? We look forward to seeing your photos! - Carrie
Drinking and Drawing Wednesday, January 23rd 2008 8pm at M1-5 Bar/Cocktails 52 Walker St, NYC (between Broadway and Church and just south of Canal St)
So, in addition to our very own Frederator stars we’re incredibly psyched and proud to have some of our best New York friends (and hundreds of our friends to be, if our pre-registration signs ups are any indication) coming by to drink and draw.
I’m exhausted! I can’t believe the influx of responses we got over the past two days of people that want to participate in Drinking and Drawing! We want each and every one of you to get your chance to draw, but we must admit that there’s only so much time in the day. With 10 people drawing every 10 minutes, as we get over 100 animators, it’s going to get pretty late in the evening until they get their chance to draw. We’re actually at 115 animators! Now, don’t let this stop you from signing up or showing up. Some people are guaranteed not to show up or to leave early, bumping you up in the list. Plus, we’re hoping to have another Drinking and Drawing soon. If you sign up, but don’t get your chance to draw, we’ll make sure you’re in for next time. Keep inviting your friends, [Read more…]
One thing we’ve somewhat neglected to bring up in our bragging about Drinking & Drawing and it’s awesomeness, is the fact that there will actually be two Drinking & Drawing events happening at the same time on opposite sides of the country! If you happen to be in or around Portland, Oregon, make sure you stop in! Starting at 8pm PST, this west coast Drinking & Drawing will, once again, be located at the Someday Lounge. Sponsored by the local Siggraph, the Portland event is free to Siggraph members, but if you’re not a member, it’s $5 at the door. Stroll on by the Cascade Siggraph Events page for full information on the Portland location info! - Carrie
Lets face it. Most animators are nerdy, awkward and anti-social. People can spend months and months working on a film that might only be seen by a handful of people. Drinking and Drawing is a chance for those geeky, black-rimmed-glasses-wearing, artists to come together and unite under the one thing they all have in common—-Drawing.
NYC is a perfect place to have Drinking and Drawing. Here are some of the reasons why:
