Drinking and Drawing

D+D NY: Some random thoughts.

-Fred always says that animators will attend the opening of an envelope. So I guess it’s no wonder that our first Drinking and Drawing party in New York was packed with nearly every notable animator in the city: It was way more exciting than the opening of an envelope.

-Animators have a bad reputation for being shy, ugly, nerdy, dorks. Wrong! This was a cool crowd and I didn’t see any nerds anywhere.

-When you have 10 minutes to draw 8 cards, it doesn’t really matter much if you are a legendary director or a sophomore-year art student… It all comes out quite manic and sloppy. But that’s the fun of it! It’s like a level-playing field.

Just a couple of the legendary animators in attendance. We can’t wait for the next one.

Man, I love these guys. And the 140 other men and women too. Thanks everyone, it was an honor to all of you there.

Hi Fred, Are we doing this thing in Boston? Let me know. Thanks, Lenny
