As we’ve been organizing and putting together the film that we created at Wednesday’s Drinking & Drawing, I’m coming across loads of hysterical drawings. Some are so silly they just make me laugh out loud. I don’t want to spoil the best parts, but I thought you guys might like some sneak peeks of clips made by some of the animators that joined us at the event. First up, Drinking & Drawing creator, Dan Meth. Dan drew twice for us, so this is only one of two great clips. Check it out!

I’m still recovering from the night of mayhem that was our latest New York City Drinking & Drawing event. It was truly a blast. We had such a great turn out and people really seemed to have fun. I had such a great time organizing it too!
We had loads going on at the Binkini Zombie Drinking & Drawing . Not only were we doing rounds at the drawing tables, but we also had paper and crayons, giant draw-on banners and draw-on Wubbzy figurines. I know, I know! It’s all so exciting! Don’t worry. I’m going to have lots of pictures to share with you guys, so you won’t miss out on the fun.

Carrie’s going to give her complete thanks list, but I wanted to add my quick thank you’s for last night’s fab D+D/NY event. Life being life, we haven’t gotten together since April 08, and we were talking about the general down-ness of animation in New York and decided, busy or not, we needed to pop come energy into the cartoon culture around here. A great time was had by all, as you’ll see from the photos already starting to post over at the tumblr and the 1000 animation drawings that were done during the evening. We’ll have the cartoon (D+D #7, I believe) ready to rock soon too.
Thank you, as always, to our indefatigable producer Carrie Miller. Since she picked up the ball from Dan after D+D #1, it’s been Carrie who’s shouldered the burden not just for our home grown [Read more…]
What do zombies love even more than brains? Prizes!
On top of all the cool stuff we’ll be doing at tomorrow’s Drinking & Drawing event, now we’ve got a prize for the night! At 10:00 pm we’ll be giving away a $100 gift card to Utrecht. Every good zombie needs a decent art store for all of their plaster of Paris needs (how else do you think zombies put themselves back together).
Oh you want to know how to win? Well, in order to win, all you have to do is show up and enter your name. It’s that easy! So come with a business card (don’t worry, we’ll have backup if you don’t have one) and come thirsty to tomorrow night’s Drinking and Drawing.
Every Drinking and Drawing results in a new, completely unique, completely FUNNY cartoon. At the last New York City Drinking and Drawing, our theme was “bunnies”. All of our guests had a blast doing some crazy (really crazy) things with bunnies. Check out the awesome cartoon that resulted!
By the way, these bunnies do some crazy stuff. Some EXPLICIT stuff. Keep that in mind when you hit play!
Drinking and Drawing is an animated jam where animators and animation fans get together to draw and mingle. Those who join in the drawing fun participate in the creation of a film in just one night! Here’s how it happens:
Groups of animators are called up to the drawing area, 10 at a time. Each animator receives 8 blank note cards, as well as the last card from the animator that drew before them. They have exactly 10 minutes (that’s 75 seconds a card) to continue the animation on each card. At the end of that 10 minutes, all of the animators are kicked out of their seats (really, no lollygaging) and a new batch is called to the table.
It ends up being a high-paced musical chairs way of doing an animation, and it’s loads of fun! Plus, by the end of the night, we have a short film (about 1 [Read more…]
You asked for it, so we’re doin’ it! Today we’re announcing another New York City Drinking and Drawing event. This time around, our theme is BIKINI ZOMBIES. Could it get any cooler?
This month Channel Frederator community manager and blogger Jeaux Janovsky stepped up and did his usual great job on a limited edition Drinking and Drawing poster. Carrie Miller did the printing chores, with an able assist by Angie Polk.
At January’s D+D we started a tradition of giving away a limited edition poster. This first one was illustrated and designed by our aces co-producer Lee Rubenstein.
