Stu’s Song

April 17th, 2008

Beef and Stu are back in this week’s Meth Minute. We hear Stu speak more than he’s ever spoken and a more affable side of Beef (no pun intended there) is revealed. Kids grow up, I guess.

Nite Fite … THE SERIES

April 16th, 2008

nitefite155353.jpg

You heard it here first… Nite Fite the Series is IN PRODUCTION. Ever since we goofed on the preview for a 2nd episode at the end of a Meth Minute 39 cartoon a few weeks ago, we’ve been inundated with people asking “What happened to Nite Fite!? When’s there going to be another Nite Fite?”

Well, all those people are going to flip out to learn that there will be not one but 20 EPISODES of Nite Fite hitting the web very soon. We’ve already started recording, editing, and animating the further adventures of Penalty & Lloyd. I’ll be starting a new blog solely dedicated to Nite Fite soon but in the meantime here’s some early production sketches by the new team, Dagan Moriarty, Adam Rosette and myself

Friends of Watermelons

April 14th, 2008

I’m working on a sequel to “Watermelon Nights”. I’m expanding it’s little universe to other fruits and vegetables. And yes, they will all be talking.

I Remember How To Use A Pencil

April 11th, 2008

An upcoming episode of The Meth Minute starring Beef & Stu will feature a hand-drawn animated sequence. After so much Flash, it was quite satisfying to actually draw with a pencil and then shade with watercolor. I drew the keyframes and assistant artists James Sugrue and Luis Cerritos drew some fabulous in-betweens. You’ll get to see the final result next week in episode 30.

Who Is This Alan Kaufman Guy?

April 10th, 2008

Syd Barrett’s accountant Alan Kaufman returns in this week’s Meth Minute cartoon. It’s a little confusing for us here at Frederator because in our office there is a real guy named Alan Kaufman who happens to have the same exact voice as the cartoon Alan Kaufman. To keep who’s who straight I’ve listed the details here:

Real Alan: Tall skinny guy with long black hair.
Cartoon Alan: Short pudgy guy with no hair.

Real Alan: Supervising Producer for Next New Networks.
Cartoon Alan: Certified Public Accountant of the Rock World.

Real Alan: Very nice and funny fellow who’s always ready to help a coworker.
Cartoon Alan: A really boring guy who’s a bit of a jerk

Real Alan: Lives in Queens
Cartoon Alan: Does taxes for Queen (the band)

So now that we have that straight, here’s Alan Kaufman (the cartoon)

Internet People: Official Webby Honoree

April 9th, 2008

“Internet People” is an official Webby Honoree! Basically that means it isn’t a “nominee” so it will never be a “winner”. But, hey, it was selected from thousands of entries to be publicly “honoree’d” so that’s pretty damn cool. To commemorate this occassion let’s watch it for the 976th time:

Goth Watermelon

April 9th, 2008

picture-78472.png

“Watermelon Nights” was all about happy watermelons dancing in the sun. But what about melons who aren’t happy? What about melons who prefer to skulk around at night while frowning? What about Goth watermelons. This is the focus of an upcoming Meth Minute cartoon. I built the main character the other night in my kitchen. I haven’t had time to film it yet and it startles me everytime i open the fridge to grab some food.
