Watermelon Nights!
Yesterday was our first day of exterior shooting for my next “Meth Minute 39″ cartoon. It’s a stop-motion music video for musician John Crave’s song “Watermelon Nights”
I’ve had this vision for the video since I first heard the song. With summer at it’s peak, it came time to put it on film. I whipped up a storyboard:
Then I posted an ad on craigslist seeking actors who happend to be watermelons. These two were willing top work for free:

Next I recruited Lee Rubenstein to help me record the melons dancing around Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and shot for about 6 hours in the blazing sun. We would have finished the shoot today but it’s thunderstorm-ing. Most likely we’ll shoot crowd scenes this Friday with six watermelons.

Cantalopes, peaches and strawberries must be jealous. Haven’t heard of the rock group, “Fruit Cocktail”?
