The Mammal Group: Matt Dorfman

Today’s featured Mammal artist is Matt Dorfman. Matt is the the most graphic design-oriented member of the Mammals. He’s a master at intertwining text and illustration, always having a reason for both.
Much of his works are reactions to news and politics. I see his work as an everyman’s dumbfounded confusion and outrage at the strange era we’re living in. He’s an editorial artist trying to figure out the world around him through picture and prose.

But let’s not get too overly academic here. While he’s all those things, Matt is also a fun dude who has an obsession with gorillas, Will Ferrell movies, Warren Zevon, and BBQ’d meat. When dogs talk on TV, he stops whatever he’s doing to watch.
Matt is also the one responsible for carefully (and stylishly) laying out every page of Mammal Magazine. With his years of Quark skills, he’s given the magazine an amazing amount of perfect aesthetic groove.
