A Clip From “Drinking and Drawing”

April 25th, 2007

We finally wrapped up the sound on my short cartoon “Drinking and Drawing” last night. By “we” I mean myself and audio wizard Mark Vitelli of W222 Studios. I’ve mentioned Mark on the blog before for having provided numerous voices in my cartoons, but he also is an amazing sound designer. Take a look at this clip from the short to see and hear how much his audio magic contributes to the cartoon.

7 Deadly Sins

April 23rd, 2007

7deadlysinsposter5863.jpg

Fred and I are developing a feature-length animated movie called “7 Deadly Sins”. It’s still very early in the development stage, but we know this much: it’ll be about rap music, it will be funny and weird, and the story will revolve around the 7 deadly sins.

We’re gathering together some script collaborators and a few weeks ago we had a meeting with Warrington Hudlin, the producer of “House Party”, “Boomerang” “Bebe’s Kids” about it.

More info as it unfolds.

And it’s called…

April 16th, 2007

Finally, we decided on a name for my show that seems to say it all without giving anything away. It was actually suggested by Fred’s wife Robin months ago, but it’s simplicity caused it to fly right over my head until it came around back and hit me like a boomerang.

What’s the 39 for? 39 episodes.

I’ve got a groovy opening title sequence planned using that sly looking logo up there; it’s the perfect minimal antidote for the colorful madness that follows.

At Fred’s encouragement I will be blogging more intensely than ever before, sharing the every day details of the production of “Meth Minute 39″. So stay tuned!

The Mammal Group: Tom Forget

April 13th, 2007

And the final founder of Mammal Magazine is Tom Forget. Tom fancies himself a traditional illustrator, a descendent of the lost era of skilled commecial painters. His inspirations are obvious from looking at his work: B-movies, horror comics, sultry dames, and heavy metal music. So obsessed is he with these subjects that he refuses to waste his time with what he calls “legitimate culture”.

Today’s featured Mammal artist is Matt Dorfman. Matt is the the most graphic design-oriented member of the Mammals. He’s a master at intertwining text and illustration, always having a reason for both.
