Octapoc: A hip-hop mini-epic

I finally finished mixing a 12 minute hip-hop concept album called “Octapoc”. I implore you to click here and listen to this insane mini-opera.
“Octapoc” is my latest rap duet with my college chum Bryan “Scrapdog” Mandronico, who lives in Seattle and sells his psychadelic paintings of aliens in galleries there. Bryan and I have been writing and recording rap songs since we met during our freshman year of college. We call ourselves “Mammoth”, a combination of our last names.
In April, Bryan flew out to New York City and we spent 5 days building “Octapoc” up from scratch. As we started writing rhymes it turned into an epic saga about a worldwide invasion of underwater creatures and how Mammoth must fight back and save the world.
We’re thinking about turning this whole thing into an animated short film. Wow, that would be amazing.

Slamming track. You are one talented sonnova gun. What do you use to mix and record your tracks? Garage Band? Sound Studio? Re-Mixx?

Thanks, Manny! I pretty much only use ProTools, and occasionaly use an awesome little application called SoundEdit 16 that only runs on Classic Ox 9.

Sounds good. It actually would make a badass little short… “Octapoc - More Tragic Than Anything Earth Has Ever Seen!”
Cool!
