Reccardi Party

October 14th, 2008

cosmopollus.jpg

Hi Fructose Magazine has posted an online interview with Chris Reccardi. The interview not only discusses his upcoming gallery shows, but also his experiences working on Ren and Stimpy, his first animation job at The New Beany and Cecil Show, his storyboarding for Rob Zombie’s The Haunted World of El Super-Beasto, and some upcoming animation pilots.

Best Quote? Working on Ren and Stimpy was rewarding: “But rewarding like getting ten root canals, and then growing new super-teeth later.”

For additional info on Chris, see his own website. Hear his latest musical project, the psychedelic pop band Cosmopollus, at this MySpace page.

On the opposite coast, The Panorama Project opened this weekend at Jonathan Levine Gallery (up until October 4). Moving Pictures

September 10th, 2008

Illustrator James Yang explores the idea that illustrators “can live anywhere” because they don’t have “a real job”. It’s a globe-trotting look at artists and how they create on the move. Part One interviews James Yang (of course), Hanoch Piven (Israel), Michael Bartalos and Fernanda Cohen (United States).

You can watch the entire video here. Also featured are Nate Williams (Argentina), Monika Aichele (Germany), Ingo Fast (Germany), and Laurie Rosenwald (United States).

And P.S.: Hanoch Piven is speaking tonight at the Society of Illustrators in NYC at 6 PM. Tomorrow he is conducting a hands-on workshop at Materials for the Arts (fully booked, alas!) And then onto Toms River, New Jersey!
