Director and animator Dick Church gives us the lowdown on how to live it up in his hilarious short “Justin’s Lotto Fantasy”.

Channel Frederator: Where did you study animation?

Dick Church:
I’m self-taught and have pretty much gleaned what I know by studying cartoons I like, researching topics on the internet, and trying to improve on every outing.

CF: Who or what has influenced your work the most?

DC:
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Marvel Comics from the ’80s, the Frank Grimes episode, and a ton of other stuff.

CF: What gave you the idea for this film?

DC: I guess just thinking about what I’d do if I won the lottery, then creating a slightly exaggerated version.

CF: Can you talk about any upcoming projects?

DC: I have a few scripts ready to go, so I’ll get cranking on one. I was also kicking around an idea for a weekly series of short cartoons that I basically do in one fevered, insomniac night each. And I’d love to find some cool people to work with and develop a solid regular series. The best way to check out new stuff would be to subscribe to my youtube channel.

CF: What would you do if you won the lotto?

DC: My life would probably follow a similar trajectory to what Justin describes in the cartoon, and then maybe I’d settle down and establish a little studio where I could draw cartoons, play music, and so on. As long as I had that, and my solid gold house and rocket car, I’d be all set.

Sounds good. Thanks for the interview, Dick!
