Character Design
What makes a good character design? With so much blandness out there, it is sometimes hard to pin down what makes a great character design so great. A decent character can make the most mundane situation interesting.
Computer Arts has posted an article called “20 Character Design Tips”. While their article is a good one, I prefer the post John Kricfalusi has on his blog, which highlights five major points of character design. These include functionality, aesthetics, distinctness, personality, and originality. Each of these is broken down further, and illustrated with examples (both pro and con) of the elements he is talking about.
If you are interested in character design, it would be in your best interest to check out both articles.
