Noferin is the product of two artist/writers from Melbourne, Australia New Zealand named Candy and Nicho. They have created an idyllic world on the mythical Carrara Island, populated by deadpan cute characters with names like Pecan and Pandacake. Candy is a self-trained designer and painter; Nicho is a writer who is studying Environmental Science.

Noferin paintings will be part of the Hi Fructose Magazine group show at the CoproNason Gallery in Santa Monica, opening this Friday, July 12th.

This Flickr page has slide shows of the paintings, views of the studio, and sketchbooks. Pecanpal characters seem destined for animation and the artists are dipping their toes in the moving waters with some shorts posted on their MySpace video page.
