I’ll tell you what, folks, this is a nail-biter! Every day I come in and check our votes at the Channel Frederator Awards site, and I’ve got to be honest with you, it is intense! So many of our categories are running neck and neck for a winner. This morning, two films vying for a top spot were holding onto the exact same percentage of votes. That’s how close it is!
So remember that your vote really does count.
This is our last week of voting, so filmmakers and fans, get the word out! With every category running neck and neck, those five friends that you send to www.ChannelFrederatorAwards.com can really make a difference. Voting ends on Sunday 5/4 at 3pm Eastern Time, so vote daily and get us some winners! - Carrie

LOS ANGELES - Mickey and Minnie Mouse were on hand Friday when Michael Eisner got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Eisner gained fame in Hollywood as president of Paramount Pictures and then CEO of The Walt Disney Co.

At a ceremony, he credited John Travolta with much of his success.

“I am overwhelmed and I want to thank John Travolta for flying here from a film shoot,” Eisner, 66, said. “Anything John was associated with while I was at Paramount was a hit. He is my lucky stone. And my success is also tied to the people I worked with.”

Our fifth Category is Best Traditional Film.

You may know that Webster’s Dictionary defines “traditional” as “of or pertaining to tradition.”
What you may not know is the word “Webster” is a generic and copyright-free term that anyone may legally apply to his own dictionary.
For example, we could publish our own Channel Frederator-Webster’s Dictionary, if we were so inclined, and there’s nothing you, Uncle Sam, or those suckas at Merriam-Webster can do about it!

Pencil: Open source 2D animation software

April 27th, 2008

pencil-home8632.png

This looks really great. Pencil is an open source, 2D animation program, allowing users to create hand drawn animation in either bitmap or vector format. While it’s not a replacement for Flash, it does allow you to manage your animated frames with a timeline and some simple tools.

Have a look at their gallery section to see what’s possible.

Punk Rock Post It Notes!

April 26th, 2008

sxsw68631.jpg

Many Thanks goes out to Fred for posting up the SXSW Poster I was lucky enough to design. It was a very fun project, and I’m very thankful it was so well received with that “hipster” crowd.
I’d like to point you all to the SXSW Tumblr page that was specifically designed for the Event, which also includes a few of my Early Conceptual, Punk Rock, Post It Note, Poster Designs.
That was a mouthful.
Enjoy!
