Today we thought we’d give you a glimpse into how a cartoon is made with Van Beuren’s 1930 classic Makin’ Em Move. (aka: In A Cartoon Studio). ![]()
This was directed by Harry Bailey and John Foster and features a cast of Animating Animals.
Exactly, like making a cartoon in real life.

This one was great, I loved the concept. It got me thinking too, how would today’s animators portray their life in the studio? I can bet there wouldn’t be a live band in it, haha. I’m glad you guys are posting these because I never get to see vintage cartoons like this anymore. Plus, another day of Frederator each week is never a bad thing, hah.

What would have been ultra-awesome is if the animators were ever drawing frames from that very cartoon. Oh well.
