This is “Pinwheel”, from the Pinwheel Channel from Columbus, Ohio in 1979. Without using Google, does anyone know why Pinwheel is significant?

Well, you know that channel where that toon about the green and pink fairies airs? That same channel with the sponge and Drake Bell? And that girl named Dora who explores? And airs “Fresh Prince” at nite?
Okay, now I’m overdoing it. But seriously, I happen to know that Pinwheel and…that channel are one in the same.

Wow! Well done. I thought it would take a bit longer for someone to get it.

Ah memories. . . Though, one and they same they are not exactly. Pinwheel was back when Nickelodeon needed to get parents to put cable in their households, so it featured mostly educational content that PARENTS liked. But eventually cable became pervasive, so give then they started giving kids what THEY wanted!

Well, obviously JoPat got to it before me, but I remember reading…probably in Nickelodeon magazine sometime about it starting out as Pinwheel. I think they were talking about the history of their slime, and “You Can’t Do That On Television.” Either that, or my mind’s just making up random stuff now
