Our good Friend of Frederator, Aaron Simpson, recently had Plastic Surgery.

The facelift looks great IMO, but there’s been a bit of mixed feelings with folks I’ve talked to.

We want to hear what you all think.

This interview was a treat for me to do because Alex Kirwan was one of my first champions and also the catalyst for me to get into Calarts’ animation program. His character design class was one of my fondest and funnest memories of Calarts. Alex was and still is one of the nicest, most genuine, brightest talents in the animation industry.

Paris Is On, A Channel Frederator Featured Film!

January 25th, 2008

Joel Trussel shared a music video called Paris Is On with Channel Frederator this week. Paris Is On is about a scarred Puppet (that rhymes with Muppet) on a quest for fulfillment. It reminds me of that mind blowing scene in the muppet movie where Kermit was riding his bike, except skuzzier and designed a little better. Joel Trussell and crew did a great job for this Paul Brill vid.

This week Roger Gihlemoen shared his short with us called Matches on Fire. Matches on Fire is just that. Matches. On Fire. Hilarious in it’s simplicity.
Reminds me of a few drunken parties in college.
Ah youth.
Those were the days. Except, none of those parties ended up
with anyone on fire… or dead.

But still.

Interview with Joeri Christiaen: “Plankton Invasion”

January 24th, 2008

Give us a quick bio of yourself.

According to my parents I started drawing, like every other child at the age of three.
Influenced by my grandfather, who painted in his spare time, they told me I’ve not stopped since then. He taught me a lot about painting and drawing, the use of colors etc…he even told me that he didn’t believe you could make a living out of it. He past away just before I went to Art School to study Animation, so I never had the chance to prove him wrong. I studied ( and partied ) in Ghent, at KASK, the oldest school for traditional animation in Europe. .. I left early in my third year [Read more…]
