“Cloverfield”: Go see it!

January 19th, 2008

I went to the sold out 10:30PM show last night, and this film is amazing.

“Cloverfield” is a monster movie, but it’s told with the unique perspective of people on the ground in the danger zone so to speak. The way the story is told, with the audience experiencing things as the characters do, is a brilliant way to tell the story. Some will say it’s too “Blair Witch”, but I liked that film, and the camcorder is a much larger part of our society than just that film, so it didn’t bother me.

The creature designs were done by Neville Page, and look like no other movie monsters I can remember seeing. They were great.

It’s near impossible to write anything about the film without giving anything away, so I’ll just suggest going to see it instead.
