Happy New Year 2008!
I hope everyone has a great 2008!

While doing some research on short subject animation, I found these promos on YouTube.
Does anyone know who did the stop motion ones with the Eskimo on the dinner platter?

We’ve all had days like this. With The Struggle, Frank Forte reminds us about the spirit of the human condition. We follow a poor guy who gets knocked around by life. Like Rocky, if he wereJerry Lewis.
I first heard of Frank Forte through his artwork and stories in the comics industry, when I was working for my mentor in the comics field, The Most Dangerous Man In Comics: Hart Fisher of Boneyard Press. It was always fun to see what of Frank’s Hart would publish next…
1) You got your career started in Comics Frank. How long were you in the Comics game, and when and how did you break into the animation field?
I had a small one pager published in Cerebus Weekly. It was a contest Dave Sim was having. Years later I got published with Cry For Dawn. I talked with Joe Monks about self-publishing and he gave me the inspiration to start my [Read more…]
Our pals at Club Cocoanut Animation show us that smoking, in some cases, may be good for your health with their short, Dougal & The Rat. Dougal’s a mouse that would make Mickey Mouse hang his head in shame and cancer and Channel Frederator sat down to talk with him in another exclusive installment of Channel Frederator’s In-Depth Interview.

As you might imagine, I’m very proud of Channel Frederator (Thanks Eric! And thanks David, Mike, Jeaux, Scott, Carrie, Dan, Melissa, and Justin). But, before I was a programmer and producer I was a promotion guy, overseeing promos for MTV, The Movie Channel, Nickelodeon and Nick-at-Nite. So, I’m really proud of the really cool promos Justin Johnson writes, directs, produces, and sometimes acts in for not only Channel Frederator but all of Next New Networks.
And I’m thrilled his work was noticed by the very smart guys at Tilzy.tv.

The line between video games, television, and feature film continues to blur. In “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”, developer Naughty Dog has created a great blend of mystery, action, and adventure.
The game looks great, and more importantly for a game, it’s a lot of fun.
The game reminds me a bit of Jonny Quest. Yes, it’s that good.
Gather your loved ones around the xmas tree, stuff those stockings with care, and day dream about sugar plums and how cool this episode is going to be.
Consider it our gift to you.
In the Struggle, we follow a poor guy who gets knocked around by life. Like Rocky, if he was Jerry Lewis. In Dougal and the Rat, we meet a mouse that would make Mickey Mouse hang his head in shame and cancer. Watch out Dramatic Chipmunk, Suicycle has Romantic Squirrels! Ectype’s End shows us more robots in love than C3PO & R2D2!!!
Merry Christmas to all of you from your pals from Channel Frederator.

A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) is the first of many prime-time animated TV specials based upon the popular comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz. It was produced and directed by former Warner Bros. and UPA animator Bill Melendez. It is also the first special in which Melendez voices Snoopy. Initially sponsored by Coca-Cola, the special aired on CBS from its debut in 1965 through 1999, and has aired on ABC since 2000.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Have a look at this great holiday greeting film from Specialized. They did a performance of “The Nutcracker Suite”, created entirely with bicycle parts. It’s quite good.

El Tigre has been cancelled. The show did not have the ratings that the network expected.
This is a weird time for the show, as “El Tigre” has been nominated for several Annie Awards. It’s a shame the series didn’t have more of a chance. March through October doesn’t seem like too long of a run, but I guess ratings are ratings?
At any rate, the series had a great look and interesting premise. I hope to have an interview with creators Jorge Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua in early 2008. In the meantime, check out this interview with Jorge from Cold Hard Flash.
