October 23rd, 2007

Greetings Gentle Ghouls and Ghostly Girls! We’ve been carving up pumpkins with our lazer eyes in anticipation of Halloween!
In fact, we couldn’t wait til the “actual” Halloween… so we created our own 9 days early, which I’ve dubbed Fred-O-Ween!

(Insert Maniacal Laughter HERE)

(a Thunder clap sound effect would add a nice touch if you also imagined that happening too.)

We’ll continue to watch your every move, making sure to keep you away from electrical outlets and cold medicine. Thanks for all the support, Doug. Here’s to year #3.

Your pals at Channel Frederator.

When I posted the Channel Frederator survey request yesterday, my old man tech-ness boloxed up the links and the survey link registered “Unexpected error.” Sorry about that, it should be fixed now.

The Channel Frederator Doggone List of Cool Cartoon Canines!

October 19th, 2007

To Celebrate Dan Meth’s Dog Video Dating Episode, which features a wide variety of colorful cartoon canines, Channel Frederator thought it would be cool to honor and remember a few famous Cartoon Canine Icons that marked their territory and paved the way… for, uh, Dan’s hilarious… short.

These are in no order in any way.

We’d like your help.

We need your help.

You might have noticed an ocassional pop-up survey on Channel Frederator. We hate pop-ups too, but we weren’t sure how else to get you to notice, and take, our survey. I’ve disabled it for now, because it annoys us a much as it annoys you.

So, we need to make a quick trade. Now that we’ve removed the irritation maybe you could kindly take a few minutes and fill out our survey. Why? We’re trying to figure out a way to pay for this thing and advertising, as I’ve mentioned in the past, is probably the best way. In order for the advertisers to come aboard they need to be convinced, and in addition to your loyal weekly viewing, who you are and what your media habits are can contribute enormously to our persuasion.

For the many of you wondering, advertisers are also the key to our filmmakers starting [Read more…]

Bee Movie follow up

October 19th, 2007

Here’s a segment with Jerry Seinfeld about how “Bee Movie” got its start. It’s Jerry Seinfeld, so it’s hard to tell if this is really how the movie got going, or if it’s a bit.

I say that because the promotion for this film has been one gag about its production after another. For instance, the first few trailers for the film featured the voice cast in costumes.

NBC has been running segments during some of its prime time programming called “Bee Movie TV Juniors”. These are all comedy bits that are supposed to show how the film was made.

There is also a “Bee Movie” music video, featuring Jerry Seinfeld and David Wright of the New York Mets.

While watching the video, I kept waiting for the girl from the Blind Melon video to show up.

In addition to the music video and NBC promos, there is also a “Bee Movie” MySpace page. You [Read more…]

Honey just got funny, or so they tell me

October 17th, 2007

In the latest trailer for “Bee Movie”, I was reminded of another Dreamworks bug movie, “Antz”.

Both films deal with a member of a huge colony and his adventures in the outside world, both show the technology of the insect world as an unseen culture, and both feature a New York comedian as the star.

What’s up… with that?!?

What makes this new film different from PDI/Dreamworks’ first animated feature? What makes it different from any of the other CG insect projects in the past few years?

While researching this post, I came across a YouTube video that was almost too telling as to how interchangeable these insect films seem to be…

Will this new film fair better than last year’s “The Ant Bully”?

We’ll have to wait and see.

Thoughts?

October 16th, 2007

This week on Channel Frederator, we present you with Episode 102: Cartoons of The Future!!!
That’s right, we dusted off the old crystal ball, shook up the old magic eightball, and high fived that old creepy gypsy woman that sits in the dark ,on a creeky rocker in our HQ’s attic. We forsee that it’s going to be a great show today. We made sure not to walk under any ladders, step on any mother back breaking cracks in the sidewalk, or look at any black cats on the way to the office today just for you. Watch Cartoons of The Future Today, and let us know what you think Tomorrow!

—Prophet Buddy: In for a Surprise, submitted by Eric Pringle
As I gaze into my crystal ball, I can see Eric Pringle working on his hilarious web catoon series, Prophet Buddy… and it is Awesome. Eric hooked Channel Frederator up with an exclusive peek at [Read more…]

More live action at Cartoon Network? The truth is out there.

October 16th, 2007

Animation Magazine is reporting that Cartoon Network has ordered a pilot for a live action series from “X Files” star David Duchovny. This is yet another live action show for the formerly all animation network.

The actor, who currently stars in and exec produces the Showtime series “Californication”, teamed with “Even Stevens” creator Matt Dearborn and Robert Mora to pitch the untitled project set in a junior high school, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Once dedicated solely to animation, Cartoon Network has been gradually adding more and more live-action to its lineup. In addition to airing reruns of ’90s tween hit “Saved by the Bell” and introducing “Saul of the Mole Men” and “Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” to Adult Swim viewers, the network recently launched “Out of Jimmy’s Head”, which features live actors mixing it up with cartoon characters.

While it is a shame to see a network that was supposed to be all [Read more…]
