Siggraph continues…

At each Siggraph, you can kind of see a trend if you look at the show floor. This year, there seems to be a big educational push, with schools, instructional books, and DVD tutorials everywhere you look.

Animation Mentor has a large booth. The work of their graduates is quite impressive, and the program looks to be building momentum all the time.

The very popular Sony Imageworks figuredrawing classes are back. If you can get in on one, you’re in for a treat. Even if you aren’t drawing, it’s worth it to just stand and listen to the instructor for a while.

Siggraph is all about networking though, and it’s great to see old friends. Here, my friend Lisa and I run into my old friends Phil “Captain 3D” McNally and wife Deepa.

After the show, we went to the Boxx party. Ed Caracappa and the rest of the Boxx crew were there and were excellent hosts.

The club was great. It was held at Confidential in San Diego.

It was a good time, and I met many fellow Boxx owners and users.

In an effort to help remember people’s names, I switched from Screwdrivers to Espresso. With such a tiny mug, it’s important to keep your pinky out.
